My wife needs to have her vaccinations completed for our upcoming AOS interview. Can someone recommend a civil surgeon in the San Francisco Bay Area? There are actually quite a few listed on the USCIS website, but we want to go to a surgeon that won't make us redo the whole medical since she already had it done in the Philippines back in May. Thanks.

Thanks for the referral, but I called and the person said Dr. Hossein is no longer there. Anyone else have a recommendation?

In case someone else needs a recommendation, I suggest Dr. Lin in Sunnyvale, (408) 481-9800. He's very friendly and straightforward about the process. We felt very good after seeing him.

You can get the vaccinations anywhere: the health center, your private doctor, wherever... then bring documentation to the Civil Surgeon and they will put it on the form,.

CS's usually charge more for vaccinations than other doctors.

Thank-you for the info. I live near Sunnyvale, so that will be great for me. We will just need the vaccination sheet transcribed, as my fiance is up to date on all of his vaccinations, and he just had his medical in August. Do you know what the charge was for this service?

Thank you! I called the SF doctor's office mentioned above and they were totally unhelpful. Sunnyvale people were nicer. I have a question: my fiance' only had to get the MMR and tetanus in Naples for his K-1. I have no idea if they gave a record of these shots to him personally, or just turned the record in as part of the paperwork his K-1. I'll ask him today, but if they didn't give him a record personally, how do we get one? I'm just afraid that all of that paperwork was sealed in the envelope that they took from us at immigration when he came in through JFK last week.

If not, is it a problem to get the shots again?

We went to Meridian Medical Group (Dr. Gomez) in SJ. They are very knowledgable and helpful. We didn't have any problem with them requiring a full medical. Also, when the vaccination requirements changed, my husband had to get another vaccination. We took care of it at the health dept. and then returned to have the transcription done again. They did not charge us for the second transcription. I recommend them very highly.

Cool, thanks! Yes, I saw them on the list that Nik+Heather is keeping in another thread and called them. They were very kind and helpful, and I think we'll end up going with them. My fiance' found the envelope he was given by the doc in Naples, so he has a record of his vaccinations. Yay! Dr. Gomez's office charges $15 for the verification, and since my fiance' came in on a K-1 he doesn't need full medical again. SJ is a bit out of the way for us coming from the East Bay, but I want to support this Dr.'s office and not give the more rip-off ones the satisfaction of going to them.

After reading about Meridian Medical Group in threads on visajourney here I decided to give it a try and called their office - they mentioned that the medical group also has an office on Mission Street in San Francisco and was transferred there as its closer to Oakland. I made the appointment and yesterday went for the exam - prior to that I had all my shots, TB test and STD/Drug screening done as part of my annual physical at my primary care physician.

To my surprise Meridian would not lower their flat rate of $145 - the doctor saw me for less then 5 minutes, checked my heart-rate and asked me about medications and current medical condition - the nurse checked my blood pressure and they did draw blood for a syphilis test though and explained that there is no more need for other STD test or drug checks.

Also, the receptionist tore apart my I-693 which had my part filled out already as according to her it was expired already - when I came home I double checked with my downloaded PDF files and it is not going to until end of October, USCIS still has the same form online. Didn't find anything about the minimum STD tests so far.

In all, yes its expensive to pay $145 for a few minute long exam and them having a quick look at your vaccinations to fill out the I-693 for, but from what I read here and was told by other civil surgeons quote, it still saved me average $100.

Reliving this thread, as I've just had my medical done.

I called a couple of doctors and had them quote prices from $145-$400 for the I-693 physical. However, then I found a friends' civil surgeon on the list:

Dr. Maina Shetty
27206 Calaroga Ave
Suite 208

Hayward, CA 94545

I called in, they gave me an appointment last wednesday. All in all, I paid $133 for the (easy) medical, she sent me over to a lab close by to have the bloodtests done and told me I needed a flu-shot (which I had done at a Walgreens for $35 after the exam).

I went back friday to have them check the TB skin test and they told me to come back again next week to pick up the paperwork.

All in all, yes it was relatively cheap for the whole thing, however it's a bit annoying that I will have to have been there 3 times to have it all done.
