YAY!! My fiance and I sent in the checklist on Monday and after sending an email to confirm they received my faxes, the very next day I got an email back telling me that our interview date was set for the 7th of October. I've also arranged for the medical exam on the same day! Grey and I are all set for the big day! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone on here for the help they have given us as well as so many other couples just trying to get to one another.

We are hoping and praying that everything goes well on the 7th of October, so until then, best wishes to the rest of you just waiting for the next step in your journey.

Hey Greylove,

I have a question about the forms you have to return to the embassy after receiving the NOA2.

Do I return the IV-15 forms seperately from the DS-156, DS-156K and DS-230 part 1? Can I return them all at the same time?

Also, DS-156K says, "The following documents must be attached in order to apply for a fiance(e) nonimmigrant visa", and then it lists police certificates, evidence of financial support, etc. Do I have to send that stuff with the ds forms? I thought I brought those to the interview.

Sorry if this was answered elsewhere. If I had more time I would spend it searching the forums, but since you've done it quite recently I thought it would be smarter to just ask.

Thanks for any help.

Hi grey love what consulate did you you go through and did you do the online Ds 160? And faxed the checklist and DS230. Thanks. I'm doing that right now and wanted to see how it was for you.

We are going through the Vancouver, Canada consulate. We didn't use the DS 160 though, I never even knew it existed, I just looked it up. I'm not sure why that wasn't available to us. Anyways, we did fax the checklist and the DS 230 last week and it was great. I wrote an email to them the next day for confirmation on whether they received the fax or not and they emailed me back with my interview day, which was the exact day that I had requested. I contacted the medical office that day and am booked for my medical exam on the same day. So far the process has gone according to plan. How has everything been for you???

PS... congrats on your engagement... I am so stoked to get married!!

just curious...wouldn't it be tough to do the medical on the same day of the appointment and then have the interview? wouldn't you need to wait some time for the results to take to the interview as well?

or is the interview in the afternoon....and the medical results can wait? that just seemed a bit odd... :)

Timeline:

Sent in I-130 form: 01/29/09

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....

This is completely normal at the Vancouver, Canada consulate, they actually recommend it. You pay a bit more, but you always get your results the same day at the medical center in Vancouver. They arrange it so you have your medical at 6:30 am and it is done around noon, then you go to your interview at 1pm. After your interview, you pick up your results and bring them back to the consulate. You are issued your visa the next day if you are approved.

It is a great little system, since most people have to travel half way across canada for their medical and interview. There are only 3 medical clinics in Canada that do Visa's. THe other two are in the east. So, it makes sense that they have done this so people don't have to travel 2000 kms twice for their visa.
