When filing the I-129F is it only necessary to provide proof that you've met your fiance(e) in the past two years? (train stubs, plane tickets, pictures)

Should we save any further evidence for the interview? We have many years of chat logs, letters, etc. I've been there, but more recently he's been here. Should we save my plane tickets, etc. for a later date?

When you're showing a stamp in your passport, is it necessary to copy the whole thing or can you copy select pages?

Thanks much

xx

Some folks, live myself, like to front load the petition with some proof of an ongoing relationship. But how you met is all that you have to inlcude.

Plane tickets should be used as proof of meeting so do all that now.

I photocopied our photo and information pages and then the stamped page.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

for the I-129F filing, proof of meeting required... proof of relationship optional.

For "passport" stamps you should copy the entire book...

"For "passport" stamps you should copy the entire book..."

Even the blank pages and pages that don't apply?

What for?

CYA, otherwise I could submit the ID page of my passport and my "buddies" exit/entry stamps because my passport does not have any because me and the "fiancee" never have really met....

also, from the I-129F instructions -

In place of any of the above, you may give USCIS a copy of your valid, unexpired U.S. passport issued with a validity period of at least five years. You must submit copies of all pages in the passport.

They want the entire book for ID purposes so to remove any doubt include the entire book ...

If there are visas in the passport, don't the visas usually have the passport number printed on them? Wouldn't a copy of the visa page plus the ID page be enough to prove that you didn't send copies of your buddy's passport pages?

What if there are no visas? I do not require a visa to visit my wife's country

I don't get it, you are not harmed if you do... so what is the big deal?

To the OP: DO AS YOU WANT....

I was referring specifically to cases when a visa is required. I just thought someone who had sufficiently covered their bases with visa and ID pages should not panic because they didn't also include a dozen blank pages from their passport. You're right, it won't hurt if they include those pages, but they are superfluous for proving you actually made the trip.

In addition, when no visa is required then entry/exit stamps alone don't prove you didn't copy pages from your buddy's passport, even if you include copies of the whole passport. Except for the ID page and the back cover, which include the passport number, all of the other pages in a passport are identical to the same pages in another passport (assuming they are from the same passport series). You could easily mix and match pages from multiple passports to put together a set that looked like a copy of one complete passport.

Anyway, I did both. I included copies of visa and ID pages in the question 18 attachment, and I included a copy of the entire passport for proof of citizenship.

and I do not understand the logic for including all pages when you use the passport for USC ID purposes.... but they specifically ask for it, so there has got to be an underlying reason......

YMMV

This is just a guess, but...

They might be trying to use this to confirm you actually have the entire physical passport, and not just a few scanned or photocopied pages from somebody elses passport. The State Department recommends that people make a copy of their passport, and keep it separate from their physical passport when they travel, just in case the physical passport is lost. A lot of people would just copy the ID page and the pages containing current visas for the places they are going to visit. Practically nobody would copy the entire book, including the outside covers. These copied pages could be lost, or some people might just throw them away when they return home. Having a copy of every page, including the outside covers (especially in the inside of the back cover, which includes the passport number) would provide some assurance that the person had the actual physical passport.

Other than that, I can't think of any reason why the ID page alone wouldn't be sufficient proof of citizenship. I also can't comprehend why the United States doesn't have a national database of US citizens, nor a national ID card. I don't think anyone should be required to get such a card, but I don't see why it isn't available for people who do want one.

have available whatever you think best demonstrates the "reality" of your relationship.... certainly post petition is good... but if you think pre petition provides good information, then have it available if they ask.

YMMV
