Can my K2 daughter get a SSN?

Hi everyone,

I have already applied for SSn and filed for AOS with EAD and AP. Received RFE last week. I was wondering if I can also get SSn for my k2 daughter because my husband need her SSN for her medical coverage. Can I do that?

Also, does anyone knows how long will it take if I have already sent the RFE to get the EAD?

your daughter will need EAD or green card to apply for SSN,

yes you can, but call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 for detailed requirements and procedure.

i was told that my daughter couldnt get a SSN until she turns 15, i have been told that she can get ITIN (W7 form) number which you apply for when the US citzen does his tax return early next year, hope that helps

not true.... my K2 son was 11 when he got his greencard and then we applied for his SSN....

my daughter is 3 mos. and she has an SSN as well....

K-2s cannot get an SSn without a green card or EAD

There is absolutely NO age limit for a K-2 to get an SSN. One of our sons was 13 when he got his green card and SSN.
