Quick question, If hubby just got his 10 year green card when can we file for citizenship for him? He has been a resident since 2006 and some people are telling us we can do it now but I am also hearing that it is 3 years after he got his 10 yr card.

A LPR who is married to a USC and residing in the US over three years is eligible to apply naturalization.

Immigration Process (DCF Japan)

08/06/2008 I-130 petition at Tokyo, Japan

08/13/2008 I-130 approved

| Waited until we were ready to move back

07/13/2009 IV interview at Tokyo, Japan

07/15/2009 IV(IR-1) in hand

Post-DCF

07/29/2009 POE at Las Vegas

08/17/2009 GC(10yrs) received

Done with USCIS until

- naturalization in May 2012 or

- GC replacement in February 2019

He can file Naturalization after 3 years since he became Permanent Resident (you count 2 years conditional resident), if he married the same us citizen.

05/21/08 NOA Date

05/28/08 Biometrics

12/24/08 The Application transferred to the USCIS Memphis Sub Office

01/22/09 Contact USCIS about the case

04/08/09 Got email about Card Production Ordered

04/11/09 Received Approval Letter by Mail

04/16/09 Received 10 years Green Card

Naturalization

08/10/09 Sent N-400 package

08/13/09 Check cashed

08/17/09 Received NOA

08/29/09 Received Biometric appointment Letter

09/04/09 Biometric

09/21/09 Received Interview Letter

11/06/09 Interview

12/17/09 Oath Ceremony

Passport Processing

03/10/10 Applied US Passport (Normal)
