There needs to be a third party involved. I tried to teaching thing with Nani - I don't really like to remember them days. I ended up hiring a professional instructor and that seemed to help. She took forever to learn and is still only going to a few nearby places on her own. Women just shouldn't drive.

Hey! Some of us are actually good drivers!

Anyone else having firsthand knowledge please give suggestions. HELP ME :crying::angry::wacko:

I am a very patient person, however, when the gas pedal is confused with the BRAKES it becomes a problem!!!

At this point, I am not sure that we need to peruse this anymore.

I am sure that professional help will be frightened. Without brakes on the passenger side, it is like a suicide mission.....

go carts & video games have helped us a lot so far. she is learning what it means to slow down before the turn & how to roll the car thru the center before hammering the gas....it use to take 2 hours. now i can pry the seat cushion outta my azz after 30 minutes when she scares me & i pucker up & rip it off the seat frame....she must be getting better.

Get her one of those green cars that can only go 5 mph.

That is way too fast! I gave up completely on teaching my filipina how to drive. :D

I suggest midnight lessons in the empty mall parking lots.

Had no problems with Myla. She is a good and safe driver and she didn't even drive back in the Philippines because she had her own driver. Well ,she has been driving by herself for a year now and so far no accidents and no tickets. She will have her 4th trip to Tampa Int Airport this morning when she will send me off to PA.

She would tell everyone she had a good teacher ...ME :)

My wife had a little trouble, but nothing of that magnitude! Her issue was getting up to speed, nervous at first going over 15 mph, but got that sorted out. Also a bit heavy on the breaking but sorted that out as well.

She is still nervous at the wheel, but has done pretty well over all. Still needs to take the driving test, and we will have to wait and see how that goes.

you didn't just say that :o .. tsk tsk

i would say my driving and parking skills have improved since moving here ...lol not that they were horrible before :P just didn't have to deal with as much traffic as here..

Well, those parking skills couldn't go anywhere but up, could they?

Wow! This thread has managed to spark some life into the "other site".

:bonk: bad bill!

I know. I started almost the exact same thread in a different forum over there, that managed to make it under the radar. Maybe we need a thread over here, "EricGroups thread of the decade". looooool!

I would have suggested the same.

My wife was driving around in a 3 cyl. multi-cab with manual transmission long before she came here so the transition was pretty smooth.
