Green card is in hand! I'm so happy we are done for a while with this process!

When can you file for citizenship? Is it after being a permanent resident for 3 years, or 3 years of marriage?

Congratulations!

Yes, it is 3 years after you became a PR. So, in less than a year you should be able to apply for naturalization (90 days before your third anniversary).

I haven't accessed the site in such a long time..... new job= 12 hrs work per day... plus some traveling..

But here I am to see how you all are doing. I think in January I will start reading the citizenship forum and discussions. Do we need to submit all that paperwork again to prove you are still married, etc? Oh well, don't want to worry with it for another few months.

So.. no VSC approval yet? What's going on there? I hope you guys get your approval email and cards soon!

We are traveling to Brazil next week so I will "inaugurate" my new 10 year green card. I hope this time they don't send me to the secondary inspection... (what they did many times when I had the temporary green card).

For citizenship, you do not need to provide evidence, but the N-400 asks questions about your status, how you obtained the GC. I've also heard that when you go to your citizenship interview, your spouse needs to go with you, but it is not like the condition removal.

Seems like by looking on the VSC filers' timeline that it took them 4 months from filing to approval so guys, we might have approval letter next month..Yay! Hopefully..

VSC is now in August filers and almost half the list is approved. So I think Starting Jan. we will start seeing September approvals.

I know that the list of applicants in VJ are not the only people applying, but it is representive enough.

I saw a post somewhere here where the PO said that there is no update on the website and no email either but he received the approval letter on the mail. I am expecting mine next month. lol Hopefully.

Guys, I'll be leaving the country to visit my parents this Monday evening. Passport - check; Expired green card - check; NOA1 Extension letter from USCIS - Check.

Is there anything else I would need to enter the US upon arriving in January in respect to immigration control?

Anyone has traveled abroad recently with their expired LPR card and NOA1 extension letter?

You didn't mention your airplane ticket

You look like you got it all. Oh, as a general rule - make photocopies of all these documents and take them on the trip with you. Keep them in a safe place just in case...

Woohoo! Approval letter came today!!! Now all we have to do is wait for the GC to be printed and mailed to us!!!
