A friend of mine treated himself to a rather large tattoo of the Englands three lions emblem.....He wasn't a happy bunny when it was pointed out to him the the lions were facing the wrong way....much piss taking ensued

maybe they were retreating :P

It's funny that his boss tried to console him by basically saying "at least it looks nice".

Seems that that is all anyone cares about when they get a tattoo in a language they don't understand.... "it looks cool". I agree with the idea that if people are really interested in oriental languages, perhaps they should study them, rather than just have some "cool looking" characters tattooed on their body.

Personally, I think he should keep the tat to remind himself daily that he's a moron.

Probably doesn't have a choice. 90 quid for the tattoo. 90 quid (per square inch) to have it lasered off...

I'll never get a tattoo in a foreign language. Even if you think it's 'OK' it might not be.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

No offense if anyone on VJ has one, but I never understood the appeal of a Chinese tattoo

Unless you know and implicitly trust the tattooist - or you take the time to look it up yourself.

True. My cousin has several tattoos now, mostly in easily hidden areas(like back of neck, upper back/shoulder blade, behind her calf) in different languages.

It's really cool though IMO, they are simply written small black tattoos.

She has Hindi Devnagari(sp?) Script behind her neck, written out by Sujeet which she took to the tattoo artist which means what is in my signature: Jesus you are my Lord.

Also she has latin written, which means something else about God, and then her daughter's name Lilly written in Hebrew on her back. And she also has the alpha and Omega Greek symbol small on her calf. Who knows which language she'll do next!

didnt britney spears get one that she thought meant mysterious, but it really meant weird or strange or something?

yup she did. :D

i can't commit to getting something permanently scrawled on my body. i just keep thinking of how it will look when certain parts start to droop, wrinkle, or get stretch marks.

or you take the time to look it up yourself.

definitely! you have to live with it forever so the least you can do is make sure it sends the message you want it to. even if you trust the tattooist, they can make mistakes too, especially if its not their particular language.

Cahnge your mind about a tattoo? Read on....

TIRED OF YOUR TATTOO?

Get Rid Of It With A Hand Sander!

By Kip Lewis

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- A light went on -- along with the hum of a sander with fine-grain paper -- when 27-year-old Ed Melch was laid-off from a carpentry shop.

"Before I got downsized, a couple of the guys were complaining about the tattoos they got in the service and college," Melch said. "Y'know, 'Mary 4Ever' and 'Quiet Riot Rocks!' I was thinkin' about that as I drove home that day."

The next morning, it hit him. "I will become a 'detat-cher' and fix those youthful body design mistakes many people make," said Melch. "Instead of going through painful and expensive surgery, or time-consuming dermabrasion with those weeny little rotary wheels, I just sand the ####### right off!" Some of Melch's clients are big, tough guys who still flinch when they see the Stripper.

"I tell them to stop being babies," Melch said. "They let somebody stick a needle in them, like, a zillion times -- how can a 30- second sanding be worse?"

Melch's customers are not only satisfied with the results, some have viewed it as a rite of passage.

"I thought I was a he-man when I had barb wire inked on my arm," said construction worker Billy Dragon. "No, man -- this was the real deal."

Despite Melch's success, there is one tattoo location he is unwilling to tackle. "I don't do bathing suit areas," he said. "You ladies with your roses and butterflies -- you're stuck with them for now."

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
