Hi everyone I just have a question about how much does it cost to support a baby in the Philippines. I married a Pinay and she is here now,but im asking for a friend who is sending money to his wife's family to support her sisters baby. He is sending 250 american dollars or about 12,500 pesos a month to support and take care of his wife's baby becuse she cant not find work now. It is for milk basic doctor visits and clothes, diapers etc.. Is this to much to send? Im not sure how much it is there to support a baby, some people are telling me that's to much and maybe they are using the money for other things to. Thanks for any input:-)

uhmmm actually $250 for the expenses of the baby is too much... but for the consideration for the family then $250 will be a big help for the family here in the phil...

but if the family is having a standard living here... uhmmm wait... a good milk here is 1000 per big can and a baby can consume 2 to 3 cans a month, 2-3 bags of diaper/ month if the diaper is mommy poko then it will be 1,800 / month plus doctors fee.. and vaccines... that is 1,800 per vaccine.... so now u ahve an idea hehehe...plus vitamins heheheh.. hay... having a baby here is soooo big expense wow ehhehehe....   oh well some others dont go to centers here bcoz the vaccines are fake sometimes...

oh i forgot baby clothes.. and other stuff are expensive too hehehe...

Wait a minute - what do you mean his wife's baby? The child is not his?

No he makes good money and is a very good giving type of guy

And since it is his wife's sisters baby he wants to help at least until she gets a job.

Whatever you send, it ain't tax deducible, but would be if given to an IRS approved charity like the United Way, but then the kid would only get about 10% of it. If you are sending 250 bucks per month, that is post tax bucks with FICA and federal and state income tax on top of that. Could be closer or greater than 400 bucks per month.

Last I heard, about ten years ago, our American semiconductor companies were paying Philippine workers five bucks a day, and they have to produce 120% or get canned as plenty of applicants, works out to be about a hundred a month gross. They also aren't pestered by the EPA so can dump their waste into the streets, I consider this a crime against humanity. But keeps the stockholders happy.

Philippines government has many problems internal and external. I think, if people in Philippines quit selling their votes, they'll make differences. My country has been like that. Personally, I'm tired of Philippines system. The president made an statements few years ago before the election 2004 that if you don't vote, you're not a Filipino. I voted once because I'm afraid they don't want to released my birth certificate or documents I needed.

Most of our politicians are buying votes of indigent citizens. When the rich scumbag's puppets flash their money to this poor people, they shared the news to each other that this politician's pays more than the other. They pick someone who pays more. They forget the main purposes of election. On the other hands, last 2004 election, I was in voting poll to vote before they closed the place. I looked up my name to sign but I saw it's already signed by monster. I was upset about it but still managed to held my tongue. I asked the assign clerk in our district. She told me it was a mistake but in my head, I don't so! I just left the building with my agitation. I can't fight with those little suckers because of their numbers. I just headed back home like a happy voter.

The Philippines needs civil war to eliminate sucker politicians.

Depends maybe if where they are living. From where is the wife's sister? City and province have different cost of living.
