hi,

I just recently moved out of my place and forwarded all my mails from USPS to the new mailing address. They would normally forward first-class and NOT regular ones. my question, which kind of mail do they use? is it first class or regular mailing? i'm afraid that i lost some of my mails from USCIS, kindly advise.

thanks,

tam

The postal service will forward first class mail, which IS "regular" mail (the kind you would use to send mail to a friend or a business). They don't forward bulk rate ("junk") mail, which is mostly ads. They usually forward magazines and newspapers. USCIS sends mail first class.

However, USCIS may request that their mail be returned to them instead of being forwarded to a new address, so you cannot trust the USPS to forward mail from USCIS. Also, when you move, you are required to notify USCIS in writing (form AR-11) within 10 days of the move. Your sponsor is also required to change his or her address with USCIS (form I-865). When we filed the AR-11 for my husband, the change was processed within a few days.

I'm the USC.

Did you do a AR 11 online within 10 days of moving? Did the sponsor also notify USCIS of address change within 30 days.

Did you call and notify USCIS of your address change?

Sorry I'm not sure if USCIS sends regular or first class.

OOPs Sorry caybee! I type slow! LOL

As stated above - regular mail/first-class is the same thing - both use a $0.44 stamp (for example).

Using the USPS forwarding address is not the ideal or recommended method - you should complete the change of address on USCIS's site (an AR-11 for the foreign spouse, and an I865 for the sponsor). All too often people just use the USPS forwarding method, only to have mail sent back to USCIS as undeliverable.
