MEXICO CITY – A Mexican official says discrimination against Mexicans in the United States is growing and is most pronounced in areas where illegal immigration is relatively new.

Director of Consular Affairs and Protection Daniel Hernandez says that "where we are seeing the most complex, hard and deep-seated discrimination is in areas where illegal immigration is new, where there may be fewer Mexicans."

Hernandez says "precisely because there are fewer Mexicans, the discrimination is tougher," although he did not cite specific examples or causes for the trend in a talk Friday.

He says there appears to be less discrimination in areas like Texas or California, with long-standing Mexican immigrant communities. Almost 12 million Mexicans live in the United States.

I inserted "illegal" for the reporter. I hate when they leave that out.

He needs to go tell the Americans living in tents or in their cars, due to this crisis, and tell them illegal aliens are being discriminated against. Better yet, they are doing the jobs that a person living in their car clearly does not want to do. Speaking for myself, I would rather live on the street and go hungry than work manual labor. *end of sarcasm*

I said it years ago, there will come a time when the illegal aliens claim they are mistreated and demand rights. The claims of discrimination are the first step. Because clearly if Mexico had been hit with such a crises and 20 million illegal Aussies entered their country, they would greet me with open arms. Difference is, I have enough common sense to expect them to be angry at me.

This article is a case of Jesse Jackson equivalents who exploit a situation for publicity.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Illegal aliens are being discriminated against? What a sick joke. With 9.5% official US unemployment (actually 16%) these people need to realize the American people have zero use for their whining and demands. Fuсk 'em and the innertube they floated in on!

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

Considering the economy, people have a legitimate right to be angry. Or should Americans just step back and listen to the well they're doing the job you don't want to do. As I said above, try saying that to someone who is now on the street or living out of their car.

In this economy, not one job should be going to illegal immigrants.

I don't see any white people looking for work in downtown Fulton, or Guerneville, or Graton, but I do see them looking for handouts on every freeway off-ramp.

Do you see any brown people looking for work? Is there even any work to be had in those areas? Do you think you would get away with generalizing brown people as lazy here on VJ like you just did with whites?

I only see brown people looking for work at the hiring tables. I am just making observations, not judgements.

Illegal aliens discriminate against USA immigration laws. SAVAGES!!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I haven't seen anyone doing that in my area lately but I've heard repeated stories about the guys with the signs won't accept food and don't last long on the jobs either.

Around here I've seen a few people and one time the same guy twice ask for gas money. They drive around burning up gas or don't seem to have a car at all. Strangely, they're never at a gas station.

I agree. It's wrong to make generalizations. No matter which group is being painted with a broad brush, is wrong, wrong, wrong.......

Did I forget to mention that it's wrong?
