My fiance & I are about ready to start our K-1 journey but we're curious as to how much evidence is needed to avoid a RFE or anything of the sort? We have about 50 e-mails each to one another, letters, & a few cards to one another. We also have several photos of his trips to see me, etc. Would this hold up enough, or should we hold off & gather more? Thank you in advance.

Main thing is to show proof you met in person in the last 2 years. Proof of a bonafide relationship is required at the embassy interview. Doesn't hurt to send a few emaills tho.

Photos, letters, emails are all secondary evidence - you will need primary evidence of meeting in person (within the past two years). Things like entry/exit passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel/car rental receipts, etc.

If either of you have been married before, you'll need evidence that you are free to marry (i.e., divorce decree's, death certificates, etc.)

Those are the two hurdles you need to jump at first.

Just don't load the file with extra stuff -- for example, if you can print 6-8 photos on a single sheet of paper, that will suffice. Copies of plane tickets, your passport stamps, hotel receipts, an e-mail or two -- plus the things that are specifically required such as letters to each other promising to marry, and of course birth certificates and any divorce papers involved. Save the rest for the interview. Good luck!

Emails, letters, and cards aren't even secondary evidence. The only thing USCIS requires is that you've physically met each other within the past two years, and that's the evidence you have to provide. Evidence of correspondence proves you were NOT together when you corresponded. That sort of evidence is only useful if you're front-loading your petition for the consulate stage. Front-loading is not usually considered necessary for the London embassy. Save the evidence of a relationship for the interview.

So, you need boarding passes, passport stamps, hotel receipts, ATM receipts, or any other evidence proving the petitioner and beneficiary were in the same place at the same time. Receipts with both of your names on them, or boarding passes for both of you on the same flight are even better evidence. Photos are good secondary evidence - they aren't primary evidence because they don't usually prove time and place, but they do prove (somewhat) that the two of you were together.

This is the best thing anyone can do for their K-1. We didn't send a large package - just 5 photos (labeled on the back), boarding passes, flight itineraries, a few emails spanning the months we were apart, photocopies of cards we sent each other, receipts of items purchased for each other, a few pages of our phone records, and two statements from my parents and a co-worker (attesting to having met John) - BUT we sent in a grip of matching receipts and ticket stubs, which really helped our case. We pasted them on his/her sheets and highlighted the dates, times, etc. to make things easier for USCIS.

Good luck!!

The only extra evidence I sent with the package was some receipts including one for exchanging Dollars ($) for Ron at a bank in Romania.
