In preparation for AOS, I was researching whether my fiance and I will have the option of walking over the marriage certificate ourselves to the court house to get certified and registered then and there and take a certified copy home with us WITHOUT having to wait for it in the mail later on (in order to speed up filing for AOS).

We will be getting married in DuPage County, at the courthouse. I tried to find the answer to my question by calling the Clerk's office and the Judicial Center, but I did not get a clear response...I was told to ask the judge on the day of the court marriage...

If you know what the procedure is in DuPage County, IL, please share.

It would be one less thing to wait for if we can hand-carry the marriage certificate from the judge to the Clerk's office for certification and registration so that we can get the certified marriage certificate the same day.

Thanks in advance!

MARM, can't help you with DuPage County, IL, but I can certainly share my experience of Randolph County, IL!

After the "I do's" we simply went to the clerk's office and got two certifed wedding certificates right there and then - no waiting. I think they were about $15 each.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Damian, I hope that is the case with DuPage as well.

I just had to look up Randolph County because never in my entire life (all of which I spent in IL) did I ever hear of it  ... talk about living in a bubble :innocent: it seems light-years away from DuPage.
