Guys, where you able to open joint accounts without any problems? My husband tried to open one for us but now I got a letter saying there's something wrong with my social security number?? I called them but they didn't give me any info. So we are going to the bank together on Saturday. So weird. Could this be because I am not a permanent resident?? But we should be able to get a joint bank account even though I am still not a permanent resident right?

You can open a bank account with a SSN if you aren't a permanent resident so I'm sure they'll sort it out for you. Also I have read that someone else went to their interview without joint bank account evidence (they didn't have one coz of bad credit). They explained why they couldn't open one to the interviewer & used other evidence instead, so don't worry.

So it seems we will be OK with the bank account then, thank you for your answers :) When I called the bank she said something about that I might have to get to the SS office with the bank letter. I didn't understand anything. So I will just wait until my hubby and I can go to the bank together on Sat. I do have a state ID and I've had my SSN since August so hopefully everything will be OK. I was just wondering whether this issue came up just because I wasn't a permanent resident (although that seemed odd since I have a work permit) but it seems that's not the issue so let's just see on Sat...

Oh my God!!!! Just got a text that my case has been updated and I logged in on the USCIS website.....

"Document production or Oath Ceremony

On December 15, 2009, we ordered production of your new card."

We had out interview this afternoon in Detroit. Bing passed of course. It took about 20 minutes. They mainly asked all the questions on the I-485, "Have you ever been arrested?, Are you a terrorist?", etc. I supplied a few documents showing that Bing was included on our bank accounts and insurance, etc. I showed a few pictures that he looked at but did not keep. Pretty painless overall. They did not ask for the NOA2, Petition approval notice like everyone says you need.

So no worries for 2 years - Its nice to have all this over with! :thumbs:

I think that somehow the phonecall makes a difference... My case was stuck for almost a month with the RFE at the NBC and after a phone call it was moving....
