Our experience was exactly like myperfectflaw's. Absolutely painless. 10 minutes or so. The interviwer was very official at the beginning and chose (seemingly at random) several questions directed at Vika from the application. "What is your full name?" "What is your address?" "What is your father's and mother's first name?" "When is your birthday?" Then she asked if I had been previously married. She also asked what I believe to be a trick question. My wife is here on a J1 and the interviewer asked where in the states she had enrolled in school. "You're a student right? Where are you enrolled in school?" Vika corrected her stating that she was here on work/travel but was a student when she applied for the J1. She then asked if we had any further evidence we'd like to add to the file supporting a bonafide marriage. We added our cell phone records, joint-bank records and copies of my 2010 medical plan information from work that included my wife.

The mood changed when we brought out the photo album. At first she didn't look at it, but then I reminded her that it was there. She smiled when she saw pictures of my wife and my children together. Then our family photo introduced some warmth.

She closed the album midway through saying "I have to put this down or I'll end up looking through the whole thing."

We then chatted about some current events like Oprah, Rhianna and prayer in public schools being taken out of Mississippi schools. Then also about some sites we could visit in Memphis while we were there.

Her departing statment was "I'm going to go ahead an grant your application. You should recieve your card within 30 days. I hope you both have a great day."

:)
