is there any anybody that can tell me what and when to expect next after i sent the everything from California to the chicago lockbox on november six and united states postal service said they received it on november 8. What will happen next? when will it happen? thanks!!

First, you will wait for your NOA1. Then, after you received it, you will wait for your biometrics appointment. Then, when you're done with your biometrics, you 'll receive your AP and EAD card. Then, if your case transferred to CSC, you will have no interview, you will receive your green card in your mail.

But all of those... need waiting and patience.

Those of you who walked in to a SS office for a number , did you receive a number that day ??

Or do they send it to you via mail ??

Ross

I don't think you'll get your SSN right after you applied. They will mail your card with your SSN on it.

Mine refused to give me the number or a printout saying the number because of the ID theft associated with it. They said they stopped doing it a while ago. I recieved mine in the mail a week after applying.

Apply in person, otherwise you have to send original documents in the mail. It was an hour drive to ours too..

Also, if it is your first card, you HAVE to apply in person.

In most cases, you can take or mail your application and original documents to your local Social Security office. If you live in the New York City metropolitan area; Las Vegas, Nev.; Orlando, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Sacramento, Calif.; or Minneapolis, Minn.; you must apply to your local Social Security Card Center.

First-time applicants age 12 or older must apply in person.

They send it by mail. I don't remember how long it took for mine but it was really quick.

Yep, you have to apply in person and the card will arrive in your mailbox in about 1-2 weeks. It's a painless and easy process. :)

Cheers..

From what I have been observing, applicants from California usually will receive an interview. Somehow I think applicants who live in certain states will get an interview. I may be wrong but that's just my observation. :star:

Agree. Maybe some states have more resources and are able to interview more while others don't. However seems only those entering on K1 get transfers. From what I have seen, those on B2, H1B, J1 etc all have to have interview.

A transfer to CSC (hence no interview) is to relieve pressure on field offices. They transfer K-1s because almost all K-1 holders will adjust, and have an interview before travelling. Hence it keeps a large portion of the AOS from reaching field offices, letting them be more efficient in more difficult cases. Saying that, those who don't get transferred to CSC infers that their field office will process them within guideline times.

Interview is tomorrow morning--I feel all panicky!! I keep telling myself we have nothing to worry about, but after all we've been through to be together, the thought that we could be denied is scary! I wish I could just fast forward through the next 15 hours!!

You'll be fine.. just get everything you need and more and be confident. Remember sometimes if things look suspiscious to someone who is interviewing you, they may say that you are declined just to measure your response. If your response is a strong passionate one then they see that as a possitive for a bonefide relationship.

Good Luck .. I think you guys will be the first approved of the interviewed couples in this thread.
