Hi Rutherford, yup,we have the same timeline.I already got our EAD last Thursday. The ones that was sent back at the USCIS office was my son's original biometric letter,we did a walk-in and we just showed the photocopy of the biometric letters sent to us by the USCIS Boise,Idaho, that's where I sent our AOS package.

Hope u get your biometric letter soon.

Anyone know the answer to this ??

Can we use the EAC to get a SSN ?

We tried to get SSN before we applied for AOS and were turned away

Ross

Did they say why you were turned away? I got a SSN before even applying for EAD and AOS. Had no problem. However I did it before the wedding and thus my passport was in the same name as my SSN. If name change was the reason you weren't able to get the SSN, you should be fine once you have the EAD. I had to get SSN and once we were married, apply for a new one in my married name.

Yeah, you cannot make SSN when out of status. But when you got your EAD, you can apply SSN. Bring your EAD, Passport, Marriage certificate with you when you apply. I will apply mine this week ^_^

Hi. I got my SSN few weeks after I got here in US. But when I tried to change my name to my married name, I was told to have my name change, 3 weeks before my 90-days period expired. So when I got my EAD card, I went back and have it change. Then, I received my new card within a week.

Your EAD card should be fine to get SSN, dont forget to bring your marriage certificate.

Congrats!!!!! That's great news!!! Good luck on Dec 14! What a wonderful Christmas gift!!!

I don't know for sure but even though you have almost been married for 2 years, it is still not 2 years and I think your GC will be a conditional 2 year one.

I think you're right Freyja, it will be a conditional 2yr card but at any rate, it'll be a wonderfull Christmas present, I haven't seen my mother for almost 15 years, she misses me dearly as I am her only daughter :crying: I can't wait to see her and wrap her in my arms. We'll cry so much we'll probably flood the city :D

Thanks so very much for your wishes dear, I hope that everything works out good and fast for you!

Thank you We Got 2.congrats for getting your interview sched in the mail.i wish u good luck .I already figured it out what was the notice that was returned to the USCIS office,it was the original biometric letters(I-765 and I-485) for my son.since we requested a transfer, the USCIS Boise ID sent us the photocopies of our new bio sched, those were the ones that we showed when we did the walk-in,however,USCIS MO sent me my original biometric appointment letter but i didnt get my son's,i dont understand why the mailman stopped putting my son's letters in our mailbox when he used to do that before, that's why when i talked to him,he acted guilty and told me to wait so he could look at the other mails in his box and found it right away

Thanks for your wishes ManilaIdaho!

Thanks God that you thought of asking him and got that letter right away! I'm also praying for you, so you could get your interview letter before November ends, you'll see that it will happen!:star:

Not so sure.. maybe you could get an infopass appointment before your interview date and ask them if it would be possible to push back your interview date after your 2 year anniversary. I'm sure that they won't bend the rules, if you're not married for over 2 years before you're approved (usually interview date, obviously), you'd just get the conditional.

My husband and I decided not to take an infopass appmt and just to take whatever they throw at u s and go to the interview, I mean If I waited almost 15 years to do all this process, I can wait 2 more years to get the permanent green card after receiving the temporary card... Let's see what happens but I'm happy as it is :star:
