Hey guys, what is the "average" waiting time for AOS approval following the biometrics?

We submitted our AOS only 2 months ago so I'm not worried, just trying to get a general feel for when I should be expecting it. Our biometrics was 4 weeks ago this weekend and we haven't had any touches on it since then.

I already have my AP and EAD. :)

I haven't had a touch since 10/27 (right after my biometrics). Seems there's a lot of us that haven't had a touch in a while. Hopefully they haven't forgotten about us and are working on our cases! :)

(at the same time my AP says on the website it's still on initial review even though I received it a long time ago... so don't always trust the website... they might be working on our cases but no touches shown!)

7th? Getting close!!! :star: Let us all pray for an approval !!! And... umm... Detroit.. It's gonna be interesting! The last time I was there, my husband and I accidentally drove into this terrifying neighborhood.... scary! LOL....

Cheers..

Received our appointment letter today. It will be December 15 in Detroit.

I know I should be very happy (and I am happy) but I guess I'm a little disappointed that our case wasn't transferred to CSC. Seems like most get transfered there without an interview - is that right?

Oh well - I haven't been downtown Detroit in a while (I used to live there) so I know where to go and what to avoid. We'll make a fun trip out of it.

Hey!

Our interview is on 7th in Detroit so I'll let you know how it goes! We have to make the trip down there too. It's a 7 hour drive to Detroit for us so I suppose we'll make a trip out of it too! :star:

Okay, it was impossible to get hold of USCIS so I did more research and finally got hold of a fellow VJ-er here who also received the same RFE for the same reason just a couple of months ago. She told me that all I need to send in is the simple Criminal background check from the Police Department. It's one page long, cost $5 and took 10 minutes. She also said I don't need background checks for the other times that I visited the US before coming on K-1. That's it! I got that done yesterday at the headquarters and sent it in! One thing I am worried about is the way they put my name on that letter. Instead putting my new married name and my other names on two separate lines, the officer combined my names into one line and made it look like as if it is one whole name. I asked her about it and it should be fine. So, I trusted her.

CSC should get the mail on Monday and we'll see what happens next!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Cheers...

(We Got 2 @ Nov 13 2009, 11:30 AM)

Thanks God! I'm so happy for you ManilaIdaho...One more thing less to worry about!!!

Thank you We Got 2.i have just checked my online status again and they touched my son's AOS but it said that the notice they sent regarding this application was returned to them AGAIN!i might ask our mailman again tomorrow why he kept on returning my son's letters when it bears the right address .it'll have an effect on his application if he'll (mailman) keep on doing that.and the thing is,he kept on putting n our mailbox the letter of the person who dont live there no more, weird!

Now it'll bug me what the notice is all about

I hope that you can resolve all this matter soon ManilaIdaho. I believe you should ask your mailman what's going on.... Is your son's name also inside the mailbox? Is interesting the fact that the real returnable mail (of the people who don't live there) he keeps on putting it there... Best of luck and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Today I went to my local social security office to request a card and had no problem whatsoever, even though I haven't received the letter of approval on the EAD/I-765... Just took my EAD card, electric bill (they didn't even ask for it), passport and I was done in less than 45 minutes. The nice lady who took care of me told me that I should get it before 8 days (in the letter they gave me it says 2 weeks)...

Well, today I decided to check again on my case st atus on the USCIS webpage and no update on my I-130 since Sept 11, no changes on the I-485 since they received the answer to the RFE on Oct 16 and guess what? I check my mailbox and there it was my letter for the initial interview!!!!!! We're so happy! Is for Dec 14th... And I was worrying so much for the lack of touches on the webpage as of today. My letter is dated Nov 6 and only God knows how many grey hairs I have grownth since I started all this on Sept 4th of this year.

I have a question... I have been married for less than 2 years (on Jan 2nd will be 2 years) and since our interview is in mid December will this be a positive factor to get the permanent card or will it be/work at the discretion of the interviewing officer to grant us temporary green card since we haven't met the deadline of 2 years?

Advice, anyone

I don't know for sure but even though you have almost been married for 2 years, it is still not 2 years and I think your GC will be a conditional 2 year one.

Thank you We Got 2.congrats for getting your interview sched in the mail.i wish u good luck :star: .I already figured it out what was the notice that was returned to the USCIS office,it was the original biometric letters(I-765 and I-485) for my son.since we requested a transfer, the USCIS Boise ID sent us the photocopies of our new bio sched, those were the ones that we showed when we did the walk-in,however,USCIS MO sent me my original biometric appointment letter but i didnt get my son's,i dont understand why the mailman stopped putting my son's letters in our mailbox when he used to do that before, that's why when i talked to him,he acted guilty and told me to wait so he could look at the other mails in his box and found it right away :) .

Not so sure.. maybe you could get an infopass appointment before your interview date and ask them if it would be possible to push back your interview date after your 2 year anniversary. I'm sure that they won't bend the rules, if you're not married for over 2 years before you're approved (usually interview date, obviously), you'd just get the conditional.
