September 2009 - AOS Filers

USCIS rescheduled my original AOS interview. Last Saturday, I received a letter informing me that my interview was canceled and that I would be notified of a new appointment. Yesterday, I received another interview notice for a date a week later than my original interview date.

Thought I would share this so that others who receive a similar cancelation notice do not stress. Apparently, this occurs sometimes due to scheduling issues, especially around the holiday season.

AOS Timeline (Local Office: Columbus, OH)

09/17/2009: Mailed I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131

09/21/2009: Received at Chicago Lockbox

09/28/2009: NoAs issued

09/28/2009: Checks cashed

10/02/2009: NoAs received in mail

10/05/2009: Biometrics letter received (Appointment: 10/28/2009)

10/06/2009: Biometrics completed (Walk-in at Columbus ASC)

10/29/2009: Interview letter received (Appointment: 12/01/2009)

10/29/2009: AP approved; EAD production ordered

10/31/2009: Received notice of interview cancellation

11/06/2009: Received AP

11/07/2009: Received EAD

11/07/2009: Received new interview letter (Appointment: 12/08/2009)

I have heard that even if you get a reschedule letter, SHOW UP on your previously scheduled date. there have been people denied green cards for not showing up.

On 11/6 I got an email saying our current status for the I-765 is card production ordered! It is about time!

Did you file I-765 Employment Authorization in the same packet? Most people get that and AP approved within several days of Bios being taken. Try calling the 1-800 number and asking if there has been any updates that need your attention, maybe your bios were bad and turned back.

I got my EAD after bio but no touches on AOS since then.

Both my AP and EAD were approved after Bios, AOS was touched a few days before their approval but not since then.

I didn't get any touches after my bio either but then I got my EAD approved like 1-2 weeks after that. Later they sent me a letter to have me to redo my bio (fingerprints only) and got kinds of touches after that.

So no worries.... perhaps they are a little slow... Take it easy

Thanks for sharing your experience. I will keep waiting. My wife is at work now and I am sitting at home watching cnn.com and watching movies...I hate to be lazy, I know these people are working hard but they should work hader..

Hi Congrats on the Green Card!!!

I filed AOS in September and just received my EAD (7th Nov), did you not have to have an interview for the Green Card?

How do you get all the updates on your timeline and what does "touch" mean is this something you have signed up for?

If you could let me know that would be great!

Sign up for an account, and add your receipt numbers for cases that you have filed. A touch is whenever that website is updated, indicating that someone has opened your case and reviewed/processed information for any reason.
