I am trying to look if someone already started the thread for September 2009 - AOS filers, but I couldn't find one so I started this one.

I just sent my AOS package today, and my NOA1 will fall on September.

I hope that there's someone out there that have same timeline of AOS as mine.

Hi Everyone...

i thought i was all good and ready to file my AOS package and was going to send it off today....

Then i realized my packet wasnt complete. I missed out seeing i needed a medical examination form I-693.

i have no problem getting it done and in fact have already scheduled in an appointment, however its going to delay my applications getting sent off and filed.

I'm here in the USA and entered as a J1 on a working contract for 18months. the 18months will be up on the 22nd of this month. I tied the knot on August 31st. i was sure i had everything ready to send when i decided to re-read VJ forums.

my medical is scheduled for the 14th & 16th. if i send of my package the very next day express, but things dont go through and my actual visa date expires (minus 30day grace period) will i be out of status and need to go home anyway? will they keep the fees if this is the case and i cant stay???

ive heard i can get a waiver or something considering im already here and married.

any input will be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Michelle81

hmmm I'm not sure about how it works with your type of visa. It's cutting it close isn't it? I know with a K1, there isn't a specific time after our I94 expires when we have to file. Maybe if you post in the adjusting from tourist/work visa section, you may get a better answer.

Welcome & good luck!

Hey! Welcome other September Filers!

I have no way to check if our check has been cashed because our accountant is on vacation leave. We're gonna wait till she come back from work and ask her if it is already cashed.

Anyway, I just got my NOA1 for my AOS. Next thing to wait is my biometrics appointment.

Exactly! At least dealing with all of these things is easier than the K1-Visa when our SO, was so far from us.

I really hope that all of us will have smooth process.

Adiiann - did you have a drivers license in your home country or are you learning on a learners permit now? I don't have a drivers license but need to get one now, however at the DMV it seems I have to have EAD or GC to get a learner's permit! Since K-1 is only valid for 90 days it's too short. Maybe differs between states... but were you able to get a learner's permit without your EAD? What did you have to show at the DMV? Thanks :)
