filing an address change

Apologies if this is posted elsewhere, I couldn't find a concrete answer.

My husband and I are a year away from filing to remove conditions but we recently moved and I want to hear from more experienced folks out there if I filed for our address change correctly. (I'm hoping we'll receive the 'reminder' for filing that some of you have reported receiving when the time comes.)

As the USC sponsor, I had to download the change of address form and mail that in.

For my husband, the green card holder, I electronically submitted his change of address. I've found some conflicting answers on VJ about whether or not we need to *also* submit a hardcopy of his change of address. The USCIS site says the electronic form is sufficient, but...

I've already received my Notice of Action that has updated my address as the sponsor in the system. However, we've not received anything for my husband--and presumably because it was electronic it was on their books before my form made it up to Vermont.

thanks in advance to those of you with an answer for us!

The current norm is to receive a NOA for filing the I-865 (for the sponsor) and nothing for filing the AR-11 online. However, you should print and keep the confirmation document for your records ... this will serve as proof that you filed the change of address. You do not also need to file a hard copy of the AR-11. The online filing is fine.

USCIS has just recently begun sending out reminder letters to file the I-751 but don't count on it. Many don't receive it.

When you file your I-751, include the NOA for the I-865 and a copy of the AR-11 confirmation... just to make sure all systems get reconciled.

Hope this helps.

I made the mistake of not taking every single step to make sure the address change was done correctly. Not doing so caused me a 3 month delay & countless hours of effort straigtening it out. I did everything you have described & it wasnt enough. I called USCIS & they said everything was ok. It was not.

I went to an INFO PASS meeting where they said " we have it fixed now, you will get the missing letters in about 30 to 60 days. ?

The letters arrived the next day. I have no idea of what actually happened.

Make sure the correct names are inside your mail box at your new address as well.

Thanks Mozplay and Ning.

I printed off the online form that was submitted and added it to our records.

And yes our correct names are on the new mailbox.

I hope we're in the clear!
