I am so thankful my honey's mother was determined to give him the education he needed. She have 18 pikney!! Yes, 18 babies all out of her own womb... lawd... The woman dead 8 years now an still she inspire me (F)

(not that mi having 18 babies - lol)

My honey was her last, she had him when she was 48 years old!

When they could not afford High School she schooled him at home. I am very proud of his knowledge. Even more proud when I go down and ask what he wants me to bring, the man ask for BOOKS! (L)

Bunz: He still does not have a phone :( He borrowed one to call me this morning and he knows I went for an ultrasound, but he said he might not be able to call again today :(

Good news is he gets a phone tomorrow!! :dancing:

It's been a LOOOONG 2 weeks without him :cry:

Girl, I have spoken to him every day cept 1 and I almost lost my mind that day...

But he has to borrow a phone every time, and we have not had the 2-3 hour talk time we are used to...

I sent him this txt the 1 full day he did not call:

try www.uss.gov...maybe they have links to "simple" laws and such..maybe u can get him the citizenship guide booklet thing..maybe that will help with knowledge on the good ole USA :) good luck

I have to leave you with this story... a friend of mine and her 7 year old son...

"On the ride home tonight, Reid said to me: "Mom are you tired of having your periods?", to which I replied, "Um, well, yes I am". He then said, "You should try that thing that lets you have only 4 periods a year". After... calmly explaining to my seven year old boy that unfortunately the "seasonique" pill isn't for me due to my advanced age and my high blood pressure, I promptly came home and threw out our TV."

this is too funny!! but the story reminds me of my husband......he is always telling me things that he has "learned" from watching tv....and i'm like baby you can't believe everything you see on tv

and he wants to order ####### off of qvc...chat bout some luxurious sheets and we can make 3 easy payments....ha!

:rofl: That's funny! Louis beleives alot of ####### on TV too.

I am rolling over here this is hilarious! My Hubby so wants to get those Sham WOW he is a mechanic and he thinks they will be the greatest additional to his tool box :rofl: drying a wet sweater with one roll of the Sham WOW ummm I don't think so LOL

Im thinking about opening a school in Jamaica if I can...maybe teach there during the summer months...

Mstee..that is such a GREAT thing you are planning!! We need it..and it is absolutely terrible that Jamaica cannot accomplish eradicating illiteracy.. as the Minister of Education says "We, as the Government, wehave to support parents. Help them to develop this culture of expectation that their children must learn to read and write."

Thats right!!! Steve and I often talk about it. When its my time, I may retire in Jamaica so why not build a foundation. For me, its all about the children. Im also thinking about when I begin to teach, starting some type of literacy program between JA and Philly. (exchange letters, trying to get books to JA and having some type of exchange book program) Im trying to visualize how this would work, but as soon as I become a teacher Im going to wrok hard at putting it into play.

that would be great the kids could learn about each other .... mabe we could make it here in va too

Sooo... SunRay asked if I had heard from Marlita. And I hadn't, we never really chatted that much but she was a regular poster back when I was a noob... anyhow for those of you that know her, I just found her blog again and she is pregnant with TWINS! Great news for her!!!

YAY for Marlita......ohhhhh she is gonna be a busy lady with 2 but at least she has her hubby by her side to be able to help her.....lord knows that will be a huge help.....i cant wait for richard to be here to help me out......but YAY I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR HER! it must be something in the wata that all these jamerican twins are conceived LOL......

Finesse, if he orders the luxurious sheets & you don't want them, send them my way. I would love some 600 thread count sheets, but just can't see spending a lot of money on them.

Trelawny, I've downloaded all of the freecreditreport commercials. I scattered them throughout playlists on my iPod to semi-simulate listening to the radio. I gotta :bonk: myself for that.

Also, the US Embassy is definitely closed for US & Jamaican holidays. When I emailed them asking for a Sept 7 interview date (to save a vacation day), Jawi informed me of that. I verified @ their website & it's true, unfortunately.
