And Ells, many that make fun are also ILLITERATE and do not know how to handle it, so they make fun of any and everyone. They also disrupt the class and provoke the teachers!

kimmy..i will have to talk to roger about that.. he went to a boarding skool from a young age, and from what i can tell, it was a pretty good skool.. he was going to college even but was too stuck on doing his own thing and didn't go.. i don't know much about the plight to tell u the truth, but i will open that up for discussion w/ him..

Everything is good.... Ray is good and is working now. Thank you Lord! We're waiting on his GC which should be here soon. Some of the older Jamaicans that he chats to are telling him that I'm going to keep his GC, but I sent a message through Ray to tell them to go suck dem motha and go away. Hold a GC for what? I don't need it... LMAO Ray said NOT MY WIFE, SHE'S NOT LIKE THAT... LOL Some people are so freakin stupid I tell you.

Anyway, besides that we are doing pretty good. We went to Reggae Summfest on Sunday and were there from 11:30am until 9:30pm. I was so damn tired, but the show was nice. Cocoa Tea, Beenie, Capelton, I-Wayne and others.

Lawd if I hear that one more time, damn badmind people with " HOLDING" the GC! :bonk: I know you were pissed!

Reminds me of Rita Marley's autobiography, No Woman No Cry. While she was pregnant, Bob got two other women pregnant. Three kids, three mothers, within months of each other. I was surprised, reading that book, at her lack of anger.

I can top that...how about 6 kids all girls all born in the same month 5 different mothers 3 in the same hospital same time....NASTINESS hood fi drap aff

:wow: SMDH!!!! I thought my BD was bad he has another son same age as my oldest.... Hot mess!

i have a half brother 1 mnth older than me..

Most people don't. Unless they've seen it or experienced it first hand. I know alot of illiterate adults and once they drop out of school (MOST) at a young age they have no interest or no one pushing them to go back and finish. A majority dropped out because they could not afford to go to school, some can't pay for uniforms and have funds to get to school if they can't walk...the list goes on.

u would think they would make school more affordable, if nothing else to help w/ the economy and general welfare.. ppl that can't learn, can't find good work and are most likely to commit crime right.. if they don't care about the children, they should at least care about those kinds of things..

Quana....Primary school is not expensive right now most are paying about $2500JA to register for the year..that's nothing..It gets expensive when you hit High School. But, mu issue is our children are graduation ILLITERATES..how does that happen? Developmental issues are not being addressed, so ALL children unless their disability is EXTREME are placed together..

I know illiteracy is affecting some here personally! How do you (those that it affects) feel about where your spouse grew up and what the Government is/has done to help this?

i think it is disgusting and bullshit...

the government should be responsible for providing equal education to everyone. nobody should have the excuse that they cannot get to school, or cannot get the required uniform or cannot afford the lunch because they have no money. this is where the government should come in....but they need the funds to do this

parents need to be held responsible....you cannot make the school entirely responsible for your childs education. parent involvement is necessary for success..

That's why I'm also pushing for an ADULT literacy program...if possible I wouldn't mind adding some parenting classes as well.

Lawd if I hear that one more time, damn badmind people with " HOLDING" the GC! :bonk: I know you were pissed!

I was listening to a JA radio show last night - Stupid female DJs on it - but they were chatting bout some boy who is 17 and being taken advantage of by a 40 year old woman - Cause if he doesn't do what he says, then she won't pay the bills - Ummmmmmmmm - What is the 17 year old doing in the US illegally in the first place, and where are his parents? Chat bout her fault - No way!

We've been having an issue with that lately - cause DJ's mother "caan manage" to have his son there - and if he's at the other grandmother, she won't send him to school for weeks at a time cause she doesn't feel well  Plus she let his cousin take his new shoes

You need to educate the parents - cause if they didn't see the advantages for themselves, they won't see it for their child

Thanks everyone for the early b-day wishes!

praise report! i called around and was getting outrageous costs for the medical w/ vaccines $500, $400..until i found one that was $217.. FOR EVERYTHING.. i had to ask her TWICE..i couldn't believe it.. we're going tomorrow.. im so happy, i feel like im getting somewhere.. cuz it looks hopeless everytime i look at the cost of all this..

YAY Quana!

Dillon, you're encouraging her!

Hi, Bunz.

I haven't read that book but I'm also amazed at Rita's tolerance of Bob's 'indiscretions'. I lost a lot of respect for him when I started learning the real story. The only redeeming factor for Rita is that she's the 'main' wife and therefore now banking a whole lotta money from his success!

So did I.

yea ppl demonize rita marley like she was a gold digger

far from it

that woman earned every penny she has

what stood out to me was how she got gashes in her shoulders from carrying crates of his records selling from shop to shop

and what stood out even more to me was how one night in germany he beat her so bad that the entire hotel room was trashed, they got thrown out

that's why when she said he raped her and ppl jumped on her case, i thought ppl were unfair

Oh no, I'm not demonizing her at all! I feel like after putting up with all that #######, she is getting what is due her! Not saying she was a gold digger but, I do wonder WHY she put up with everything....she is probably a very smart business woman and knew she had a money maker with Bob. But hey, I don't blame her one bit!:no:

And she saw a way out of Jamaica.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Finesse,

Do not forget America cannot be compared to Jamaica on an educational scale in what is provided. The education in Jamaica is way more intense than that here. I have found it eventually evens out at about 11 or 12th grade.

I do not believe a Government should be responsible totally for anyone. That means OTHERS are paying for this. We cannot rely total on the Government for anything except in crisis or devastation IMO.

Wah mek yuh a deal wid di ting so...

Why many in America have children? Why is teenage pregancy on the rise in America?

How many here have brought a child into this world they CANNOT take care of and I as a tax paying citizen pays for them? That's not the issue

And she saw a way out of Jamaica.

what does that mean ?
