I haven't read that book but I'm also amazed at Rita's tolerance of Bob's 'indiscretions'. I lost a lot of respect for him when I started learning the real story. The only redeeming factor for Rita is that she's the 'main' wife and therefore now banking a whole lotta money from his success!

what stood out to me was how she got gashes in her shoulders from carrying crates of his records selling from shop to shop

and what stood out even more to me was how one night in germany he beat her so bad that the entire hotel room was trashed, they got thrown out

that's why when she said he raped her and ppl jumped on her case, i thought ppl were unfair

praise report! i called around and was getting outrageous costs for the medical w/ vaccines $500, $400..until i found one that was $217.. FOR EVERYTHING.. i had to ask her TWICE..i couldn't believe it.. we're going tomorrow.. im so happy, i feel like im getting somewhere.. cuz it looks hopeless everytime i look at the cost of all this..

As soon as we got the EAD we started completing applications. I put together a NICE resume with lots of experience, we went over it and he got a call a few days later. He interviewed and and is now working. I'm glad things are working out for you. The cost of the process is crazy. Hang in there.

I know illiteracy is affecting some here personally! How do you (those that it affects) feel about where your spouse grew up and what the Government is/has done to help this?

Not saying she was a gold digger but, I do wonder WHY she put up with everything....she is probably a very smart business woman and knew she had a money maker with Bob. Also..OAFJF needs the HELP we want to get out 1st child awarded very soon. We are looking from donations EVERYWHERE..we are asking EVERYONE who KNOWS the issues the school system in Jamaica faces to PLEASE HELP us in ANY way you can, it does not have to be MONETARY...I know we do not want to continue this cycle of so many men going through the visa process and cannot read, write or both. Help us make a change!!!

Everything is good.... Ray is good and is working now. Thank you Lord! We're waiting on his GC which should be here soon. Some of the older Jamaicans that he chats to are telling him that I'm going to keep his GC, but I sent a message through Ray to tell them to go suck dem motha and go away. Hold a GC for what? I don't need it... LMAO Ray said NOT MY WIFE, SHE'S NOT LIKE THAT... LOL Some people are so freakin stupid I tell you.

Anyway, besides that we are doing pretty good. We went to Reggae Summfest on Sunday and were there from 11:30am until 9:30pm. I was so damn tired, but the show was nice. Cocoa Tea, Beenie, Capelton, I-Wayne and others.

Reminds me of Rita Marley's autobiography, No Woman No Cry. While she was pregnant, Bob got two other women pregnant. Three kids, three mothers, within months of each other. I was surprised, reading that book, at her lack of anger.

Boy, I can't even begin to respond because I could write an essay (and I'm supposed to be writing an actual essay for my class right now)! I definitely wish there was more importance placed on education (and literacy especially) in the communities by the families, the government and the schools. If there were more campaigns for literacy, perhaps the families (where it all starts) would take it more seriously and decide that it's more important to make sure the children go to school than to help with chores and market. So that's probably where the government comes in (to start....they have a whole lot more to do) with the campaigning and making sure the importance is really hammered in. The schools could do better by trying as best as they can to treat all children (rich and poor) equally and giving as much equal attention as possible to all students. Also, don't discourage them just because they have to come to school barefoot or without all of the uniform or books or whatever....just encourage them to come. And when they do come and maybe aren't as 'up to par' as the other students, REALLY DISCOURAGE peers from teasing or making fun of because that will quickly drive a child (or adult even) away.
