Passport book waiting time

When I had problems with my own passport during that Canadian rush, like 3 1/2 months with expedient service, contacted the DOS with that 800 number. To avoid all that BS you have to listen to, was a four digit key sequence you could enter to speak directly to a real live person. I have since forgotten those four numbers, perhaps somebody else knows them.

My flight was leaving on a Friday, really got steamed on a Tuesday and explained my situation, DOS did have a promise that no one would miss their flight. Talked to a reasonable man, also forget his name, always get their name, I received my passport that Friday morning, just 12 hours before my flight was due to take off. That was cutting it darn close.

That fellow told me their website was worthless, don't pay attention to it, seems the USCIS website is equally worthless as well as their processing dates, but everybody goes by those dates including your senator. I should have received my passport the next day overnight, but then the post office screwed up and send it to Timbuktu or some other God forsaken place. So I went to see my post office general, she was very nice and really got on the horn and got it to me at 6:00 AM in the morning, she got out of bed for me. All is well that ends well, but was a nervous wreck, really don't like dealing with government agencies.

In that rush, they lost my birth certificate, but that was only eight bucks out of my pocket, really feel for those who lose their certificate, questioned my city clerk about that, it seems like the DOS should make concessions but she never ran into that before. Without any proof of mailing, can't really blame the post office. You have to pay extra for insurance and tracking, can only blame the DOS, they are the ones that sent it first class mail. Can't believe when you paid for expedient service, they won't send it overnight insured with tracking.

Oooooohhhh. I just checked the status of my passport and it was mailed to me yesterday.

I really want to go on vacation on Tuesday so I am praying that I receive it by Monday so I can book a last minute beach vacation......... I'm so excited!! Fingers crossed I get it by then.

Hurry up post man!!

I went to the Houston Passport Agency today to apply for a passport - one unexpected benefit was that they just took a copy of my nat cert and didn't keep the original. They had special hours for two days after the oath ceremony to encourage people to apply.
