We have half the country who thinks there is no problem with health care.

I wouldn't give credit to half the country - likely the number isn't even close (although they'd like you to think half - or more is against, it helps their 'cause.'). Hard to tell when all you can hear are people shouting from the back of the room..

Those people need to realize that the American people have chosen and they voted against these opposing views. That is what a democracy is all about. Unfortunately people just don't seem to get the premise of an election and democracy. They seem to think that even when they are voted out of office, that is, their views are no-longer supported by the majority, they erroneously feel they should still be able to call the shots.

No different really to terrorists around the world plotting to kill Americans they disagree with. However, when it comes to terrorists acting this way, we have a problem with it. We just don't see any issues with us doing it. Something known as hypocrisy.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

AJ Making 70K, does not make you "all that" but it's nothing for you to be ashamed of either.

How many blue collar Americans are making that sort of salary anyway? Not many. Especially not amongst the blue collar states that are against this reform. 75% of US households earn less than that.

Dude, re-read what you wrote.

I can;t even believe you think because one person takes the white house that means everyone is suppose to surrender their other branches of representation or their right to make our wishes known.

If someone is breaking the rules of conduct in any public meeting.. toss the person out.

Why have an election at all then? Since even if someone loses by a long-shot, they feel their opinion should influence outcomes. This standoff on issues is a clear failure of the presidential system, in comparison to the parliamentary system; where such roadblocks are not as common. As soon as a party is in office, they call the shots. If people disagree with them, they vote them out during the next election. If the party does something that is not in the country's national interest, the governor general has the power to call an early election and oust the prime Minister. As I said to qvt, in another thread, tis is the reason the parliamentary system is so popular, when compared to the presidential system.

You also realize that unlike the presidential system, the opposing party is not ousted the second they lose. They still have an opposition leader to voice their opinion; which in this situation would work to your favor. Whereas, under the presidential system, it's a case of you lost; bye bye.
