Good morning everyone!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Enjoy each other  i know you must be so excitedt4526.gif

He finally made it last night. It took an hour to get through POE but it was nothing to do with our visa app. It really seemed they dont know about it. They were asking about his passport as he had his luggage, leather jacket and passport stolen out of my car when we stopped for a meal on the way backk form the airport the night we got engaged. It was only pure luck he didnt have the ring in the bag as well!

I was in a near panic as I noticed no one else coming off plane and it had been well, over an hour. I finally made my way to customs where I was told that no information about a passenger could be given out even to a spouse!

Last night was a whirlwind and today is stinky cos I am at work! But he knew my schedule when he came over. We are meeting for lunch in a couple hours. He is insane and trying to walk the 8 1/2 miles from my home to my work!

Ms. Sheka, I really hope you get your news today. :)

We still have no hard copy of the NOA2 and no NVC number. Whenever I call it is busy!

Hope all of you have a terrific week. I'm thinking we wont be on here much as we only have 9 days and plan to make the most of it.

My parents are coming for supper later.

Hello to everyone from the USA! Diane is at work and after walking 8 miles to her work to meet her for lunch and at least another 3 exploring the area I'm not gonna do much today so I thought I'd tell you about the weird experience I had at the POE. I had every kind of proof that I had a life to come back to so I decided to be totally upfront and tell him I was here to visit my wife and she is a US citizen. This didn't seem to ring any alarm bells with him. He swiped my passport and typed a few things as normal. He then asked if I had ever had a problem entering the US before. I said no. He said I had a very common name and he couldn't get enough information and I'd to go to the secondary passport office downstairs. They took my documents and told me to take a seat. Eventually he shouted me over and totally confused me by asking what had happened to my old passport. I was expecting a grilling about the visa application. I said my passport had been stolen. He said that might explain it. He said there was a "hit" against my name. He didn't know why so he asked if I had done a new ESTA for the new passport. I said yes. I'd entered with that passport and ESTA in may. He said it wasn't complete. I said it was and luckily I'd printed the authorization off and had it with me. I showed him it. He still claimed it was incomplete despite the fact it said application authorized at the top and had a number. He really didn't know much about it but another guy was there and told him to check my number in the ESTA website and he did and it was there and was ok. The 2 officers were talking about what morons they were that they hadn't taken the "hit" off my name. By this time I was totally confused and they seemed to be too. He said he'd make a phonecall and then have me on my way and told me to sit down again. He went in the back and I'm thinking he'd now find out about the visa application and I'd get grilled. He eventually came back out and sat down at his computer. I held my breath! Then I heard the beautiful sound of him stamping my passport and he said "You're all set" and that was it. The only question he asked me was if I was there for business or vacation. Nothing else. Apart from the ESTA I never showed them any documentation. I still don't get what it was about but I'm just glad I made it in. Diane was outside waiting for an hour panicking and had no clue what was going on. The POE officers were all very friendly and not intimidating at all. Hopefully whatever this "hit" was won't reappear in the future.

Wow! Well, I'm just glad it all worked out and that you're here with your lovely bride! I would think if your passport was stolen, they'd want to totally verify you were who you were and not the perp who stole your passport. The guy sounded a little flustered!

When my hubby came to visit me last spring, he wanted to play a trick on me and wear a disguise when I greeted him (Finns have such a sense of humor!). He carried a fake black beard on the plane in his backpack. When he went through Customs in Canada, they were so concerned about the Belgium chocolate he was bringing for me. The guy who was questioning him about the chocolate was actually holding the beard in his hand, then gave it back to my hubby. Not once did he ask why he was carrying a fake beard on the plane. ha!

And of course, he did surprise me. I thought he was some crazy man and I was backing away from him when he approached me. I"m sooo going to get him back someday!

Have a great time, and give your feet a rest! :)

I just realised I was signed in on Diane's account! The previous post was David and not his girl!

My passport was reported stolen the next day and was cancelled by the British consulate in Boston. I got a new one as soon as I got home and used that in May and never had a problem. So none of it makes sense. When I come back here for thanksgiving I'm bringing my mum and she is old and not in the best health so I'm hoping they take pity on her and just let us through.

While I was waiting there was a girl trying to talk her way into the country but was talking herself into a bigger hole! She had asked for extensions to her stay twice in the past and the last time she overstayed and they took a month to get rid of her. She was telling them how much she loved America and that she had a male friend here but he wasn't her boyfriend but he was single! The more she talked about loving america and the things that they did together when she was here the more she sounded like she wasn't gonna leave. I wouldn't have let her in so I doubt they did.

Ms. Sheka, hopefully they'll pick up the pace soon and you're the first one!

I guess we resort to cleaning and rearranging when we're going thru this, huh? I cleaned my garage last weekend! What a mess! Now I have to put things into storage bins this weekend, and do more cleaning. I'm also hosting a french exchange student soon for two weeks, so I have to get her bedroom ready! My daughter suckered me into it...there's just so much to do!!!! :help:
