I got my NOA2 hardcopy in the mail too! Well, it came yesterday but I finally picked my mail up today!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Hello,

My husband filed I-130 for me last 2008 .. He became a USC last June of this year and he upgraded it .. Today, we received the Approval notice for the I-130 ..

I'm currently here in the US and adjusting my status since August of this year (as you can see on my timeline)

We have questions to those who have been in this processing and to those who will know the right thing to be done ..

1 - Can my husband file I-130 now for my child (his stepchild) eventhough I'm in the AOS process? (child is in the Philippines, 6 years old)

2 - How long will the I-130 be approved? (we're still saving money for the visa fee which is $400, plus medical $180+, plus plane ticket $1000+) So we could know

how much time we have to save some money .. my husband and I are planning to go to the Philippines before my child's interview at the embassy there so when

we get back here, we'll be with my child already.

3 - My child's bio father is not listed on my child's birth certificate, would it be a problem?

Thank you all in advance!

God Bless us all (L)

CONGRATS! cHiQy and be sure to check out the October NVC thread again WELCOME :dance::dance:

guys i sat here reading my NOA1 and i saw this "USCIS MAY WAIT TO PROCESS FORMS I-130 UNTIL CLOSER TO THE TIME WHEN A VISA NUMBER WILL BECOME AVAILABLE, WHICH MAY BE YEARS AFTER THE PETITION WAS FILED. NEVERTHELESS, USCIS PROCESSES FORMS I-130 IN TIME NOT TO DELAY RELATIVES ABILITY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP TOWARD PERMANENT RESIDENCE ONCE A VISA NUMBER DOES BECOME AVAILABLE."

so from reading this guys i know that my turn is depending on how many CR1/IR1 are currently pending for JAMAICA i noticed there were two here on VJ for AUGUST which was myself and another filer with NOA1 8/20/09 and NOA2 date 09/23/09 thats a 34 day average and being that the NOA1 date is 11 days before mine 169.gifmy little theory is that I AM NEXT IN LINE ON VJ FOR CR1/IR1 for JAMAICA :dance: i am now at day 31 so BRING IT ON CSC!! hippo.gif

You go on with your bad self girl! I love it!!!

So, I was talkin to the hubbs today when I was at work and I told him to keep an eye out for emails from the NVC because I expect we should get something next week. I went to the laundrymat after work and I got a text from the hubbs, "We got the email woot woot..... From NVC". Well can I just tell you when I read this I screamed and started jumping up and down while everyone in there stopped talking and whatever they were doing and just stared at me... I didn't even care. I just kept doin my little happy dance and had a huge smile on my face.:innocent::dance:  :dancing: :joy: :dancing::unsure::P

MsSheka, I really hope your theory is right... NOA2 for you next week.... hopefully Monday! You deserve to feel some happiness of your own!!!!

Mark

Mark I read that on the DOS website but USCIS website says

For citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States to establish the relationship to certain alien relatives who wish to immigrate to the United States. Note: A separate form must be filed for each eligible relative. USCIS processes Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, as a visa number becomes available. Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident
