I had been checking my case status about 10 times a day and now it's been approved and we're not at the NVC yet I have a void to fill so I'm now keeping an eye on here to see if you have been approved. I hope it comes soon. If you're husband is really as wonderful as you say he is you should research his family tree and I bet you'll find he has a Scottish relative in there somewhere!

ha! That's so funny! Though blue...hmmm...

Scot, you know I'm directly related to a Scot! Someday I'm going to visit there...I know my hair will fit in! In Finland my hair is an anomaly.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

If you ever do visit don't just go to Edinburgh like all the other Americans. It is a beautiful and unique city and worth a visit but the true beauty of Scotland is in the highlands. When Diane came over for the first time I took her to the Isle of Skye cos I wanted her to see the very best of my country. Skye and the western highlands are breathtaking. 15 months later we got married on the Isle of Skye. It is our special place. I LOVE my country with a passion. You said that Finns are patriotic but it nothing compared to Scots. I always said I would never leave Scotland. I couldn't imagine myself ever living anywhere else. Yet here I am desperate to get a green card to spend the rest of my life in America. Love is a powerful thing. :wow:

What a beautiful place to get married! That's on my list...and the castles...and my grandpa's birthplace...I'll probably get there in the next two years. My daughter really wants to go too!

Wow, you must really love her!!!! (L) What part of the country will you live in? I'm blanking out.

Yeah she's the one! We'll be living in Massachusetts. The birthplace of America!

Btw as Finland borders Russia are Americans allowed to go there? Lol.

Awww!

The Finn's hometown is three miles from the Russian border. We rode our bikes there this past July-it was an amazing experience for me! Him? Not so much. ha! He's so used to it. And I meant we rode our bikes TO the border and stood looking at Russia. No, we can't go there (Americans) without a visa, and you have to be sponsored somehow. We may go next summer through some type of tour to St. Petersburg, but it seems to be a bit of a pain to get the visa. I hear Moscow is not a safe place to go!

MA is one place I've never visited!

Us Scots may be known for our drinking and our poor dental hygiene and a few other faults but we are serious romantics and we appreciate the love of a good woman. And I definitely have a good woman!

I was amazed to find out recently that Americans aren't allowed to go to Cuba. It is a popular holiday destination for us Brits and the rest of the world. It is a sun drenched Carribean island to us yet America still sees it as the enemy. I was reading the USCIS info about becoming a US citizen and it was saying that one of the advantages of being American is you have freedom to travel. Hmmm. Not totally true!

Does it really rain in Seattle as much as they say? That is something we have in common. It rains a lot here. Although it never seems to rain when Diane visits.

Yes, you have an amazing hubby!

Seattle and Alaska are both great places! I'm fortunate to travel to Alaska for work, so I get the best of both worlds! About Seattle rain...yes, it drizzles here a lot during the winter-but not as much rainfall as NY, Miami, etc...get! We had the best summer ever this year. One day it was 104! It was beautiful for four months-a record! If you visit Seattle or Alaska, come in the summer! June is best for AK.
