Think positive my August peeps! I think I got totally lucky in the week I sent my stuff. Don't worry! Your check will clear this week, hopefully! :)

At least we have each other. No one else gets it! Well, except our spouses of course!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

So, still no canceled checks... But I go to my mailbox and what do I find??? Two envelopes from USCIS. YIPPPEEEE!!! Bucking all the trends, I get my hardcopy NOA1s first. Rec'd 08/24, Notice Date 08/28 on both and their numbers are sequential, so I have greater hope that my wife and my stepson won't get separated in the system.

Yay!! Snoopy Dance! Snoopy Dance!

Now, I will send my positive thoughts out to the rest of the August crowd.

Mark :)

PS. I will update my timeline after my run. Gonna be the easiest 6 miles in weeks :)

When it rains it pours. I just got the canceled checks off my bank's site. My wife's number was the typical one digit off by one, but my stepson's was one digit off by two.

Good luck, Augusters!!

I used a Sharpie on the back of mine. The instructions state to use pencil or felt pen (which I intrepreted a Sharpie as being) to mark them lightly. What kind of pen did you use? Could it be interpreted as "felt pen"? You might be okay. Probably best not to stress unless you get an RFE. I have an extra photo of my wife and I can get ones of me same day, so I would just provide if I got an RFE. Maybe you could proactively score another photo of your hubby just in case (you can always carry it around with you if you don't need it... I always like having photos of my wife with me :)

I used a pen too, don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure they understand that photo's and pencils do NOT work together. :3

Heck...I'm not even sure if I wrote my name or anything on the back of my photo...:3

I used a pencil but I can't see how pen would get you an RFE! That would be crazy! Well, unless it smeared all over.

Mark, you crack me up! I'm not sure I want to carry my husband's passport photo around. He looks so serious!!! The one I took in Finland was the most horrible picture of me ever. I actually paid for retakes when I got home!!!

We're a fun bunch. I look forward to all this bantering in the next months!

I'll have the first RFE for lack of photos...ha!

Well, I don't think photos will necessarily get you an RFE. I heard of someone else not sending any photos and they were fine. I just went over my I-130 petition today, and realized I had sent over 60 photos to USCIS. 30 were wedding photos...lol

Bern, I sent a photo book done at a camera store with 38 pictures of photos! It's a very thin book. They (USCIS) sent it back to me the first day. How disappointing!!!!! So now they have no photos, even though I worked all day sitting at a camera store putting it together...
