Hello everyone!

What is the safest way to mail documents and original evidence from the U.S. to the Philippines?

My fiancé will be sending me a set of papers related to the visa process but he is having concerns about the mail to reach me.

With the advice of my precious baby, I started to rent a post office box in May. He sent me a card to test if it would reach me. Upon receiving the greeting card on June 6, I was shocked with the torn edge. Could it have been scratched like that accidentally? I took two photos of the envelope and showed them to my friends at work. We have the same thought—the post office personnel might have opened the mail to see if there was cash or anything of monetary value.

See the pics below exactly how they appeared when the woman who is in charge of the post office boxes handed them to me.

I live specifically in Cebu City.

Never trust sending mail with cash..done that but mom never got the mail with the cash,,but they get my mail with no cash... About sending the important documents we always use fedex and still using it and never had a problem.

Of course, my fiance has never sent cash or anything pecuniary through the post office or even with the aid of money transfers like Western Union because we rely on the bank.

*Erratum: See the pics below exactly how they appeared when the woman who is in charge of the post office boxes handed it (not them) to me.

And oh, I told my fiancé not to use the P.O. box address anymore and I don't care if renting it would be considered futile.

I have always received cards from family with small amount of money inside. I've never had any problems. I wouldn't guarantee it obviously, but its possible. I think the tear on your envelope you have easily been caused by a machine in processing if it got caught.

Use Fedex, DHL, etc. when sending important documents. My fiance sent me a card with some amount and some chocolates on the mail last year, but I never received those.

In the Philippines it is hard to get anything of value through the post office.

Hello Amy Kathleen!

You are a June filer as I see here. We submitted our I-129F on May 29 and received the NOA1 on June 01. I hope you have already joined the thread of June filers initiated by Deryck.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=200043

See you around and let's keep it positive that the NOA2 arrives a few days from now.

yes I bet also they were open. You should never send anything of value thru the post office of the Philippines. They go through the mail before the deliver it. They always open up greeting cards from the USA, Why because they think they have cash in them. So if you want to send cash wire it to them

I bet that is why your card has a ripped in it, they opened it up to see if money is inside

Take care

Hi...my fiance' lives in Cebu City, and I have sent you several card, always with about 3 pics inside. They have all gotten to her, but half the time there would be a tear like your letter had. I always mail them through the post office. I even did my documents that she needs for our visa interview. The doc's were sent priority mail and had to go through customs, just took about 4 more days than when I send a card.

I f I had to do it over again, I would have sent the docs registered through the post office, because their international carrier is FEDEX, but seems to have a little less rate than actually going to FEDEX.

But as far as cards, with some pics in them, again they always arrived at her home address no problems, because, nothing of value inside.
