If Husband is at College then he would have access to health care through the college which can include spouses, I was covered that way for a while.

Also if he has no income there must have been a co sponsor.

This is not exactly unforseeable.

Going home on AP seems the best solution.

Since you already have AP, why not give birth back home? It will save you money and it will also be less-stressful. You cannot be dealing with all of these stress factors when pregnant. I know you are worried about your AOS interview (if you are gonna have one), but that can be rescheduled right?

(Just my thoughts: Your case is longer than usual.)

I hope you will have peace of mind soon. Good luck on whatever you decide on. (F)

Husband just started school this August 24. We have a doctor who is doing all my pre-natal visits. He set up a payment plan for us and we have already paid him 3/4 of the agreed price for professional services. It really was an option to go back to Philippines. However, let's say I get on that plane while I can, then give birth, then do the CRBA then fly back here... hmmmm, let's see that would take more or less 5 months. And in that 5 months, there's a possibility that we will get that letter for my aos interview. Another problem right?

It's true that I can just go to the emergency room. They will have to take me anyway whether they like it or not, right? What is not acceptable for me is the ridiculous amount that they will bill me later. I had a pap smear here and a month later, a got a bill for $3,000. That is not acceptable for me. I had two emergency room trips because of threatened miscarriage and now I have $7,000 bill that we are paying monthly. I am not here to run away from my obligations. If that really is the case then Im here to face it. But I don't want to be in a place where someday I would find out that there was an option but I was just so stupid to take it all because I didn't do my research.

Illegals get medicaid and legals don't. That is so stupid. Im sure all of you wil agree. And yes, I know that the lady we talked to doesn't know what she was talking about. One thing I learned here, not all who are in their jobs know what they are doing or saying. Some people would pretend to know and hope that the person they are talking to is stupid enough to believe them. It happened with my consul in the US Embassy, the lady at the SSA office here, the person who is doing my AOS because I was asked to do another medical and now people from medicaid. I always wonder why there is no precise answer...only different answers from different people who are in the same job.

When I was googling for OB doctors here in our place, abortion clinics website were the most that came up in the list, in fact, it was in the number one list. So there... US is pro choice and abortion should be one of the options. Maybe it is cheaper to get an abortion because having a baby is simply unaffordable.

This will be my second child. My four year old from previous marriage is going to school here in Florida and teachers in his school have talked to me about how smart he was and he needs to be accelerated. They are starting with ABCs and 123s while my son is reading an entire book, newspapers and doing multiplication table. He is not under headstart program of the government. We pay for his school and its more than our monthly apartment rent.

Should have, could have, would have. Asking me why we didnt use birth control won't help. But for the benefit of those who were asking, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and my doctor said I have to go through fertility procedures in order for me to conceive. But not all attempts will be successful especially now that I am 34. My husband and I talked about this before getting married and he had accepted the possible fact that I may not have a child with him. He was already happy with his stepson and so proud of him. He treat him as his own. By the way, my son is a product of fertility procedures I went through. So yes, this baby (another baby boy) is a blessing. Every baby is a blessing.

Now about the emergency medicaid...

Emergency medicaid is not just for illegals or poor citizens. You need to contact your health and human services department. They administer Medicaid, emergency Medicaid, food stamps etc. They can tell you how to apply for emergency medicaid and what the financial guides are. Emergency Medicaid is NOT a means tested benefit. Also please ask about other programs. In California we have AIM which is not a means tested benefit but will pay all or part of your prenatal and delivery cost. It is specifically for women that dont qualify for and have no health insurance.

The other posters were correct. College sometimes have their own medical clinics etc and you may qualify for that being a spouse of a student.

It is no one's business how the child came in to being - ignor those posters.

Good Luck

I have no idea what Florida provides. My step daughter is an expert on Colorado provisions. In my experience benefit programmes etc are a common discussion at the school gate. I would have thought there is somebody you know who has been there and can tell you what is available.

I would look at cover through the College.

I don't remember how deeply you looked into what Medicaid is available in your situation. Hospitals are never a good source for this information. Florida has a government agency for you to contact: http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/admin/dcfcontacts.shtml and I'd suggest that your husband start the ball rolling. He'll get a better response, perhaps....that's just the way things are. Illegal immigrants are a hot topic in Washington and everywhere else, especially when millions of Americans have no access to any free medical attention except at the emergency rooms.

Emergency Medicaid reimburses hospitals for emergency care of patients who would otherwise qualify for Medicaid but are ineligible because federal law excludes undocumented and legal immigrants who have been in the U.S. less than five years. The Medicaid program does not reimburse non-emergency care or care provided to patients who do not meet Medicaid requirements - most adults without children and immigrants with employer-sponsored insurance.

Emergency Medicaid essentially functions as catastrophic coverage for a population with very limited access to primary and preventive healthcare, said DuBard, who is also a family physician at a federally supported community health center where 40 percent of patients are uninsured

You say you are following your prenatal appointments, have you had any complications or are you low risk? if you are low risk, have you considered an at home birth with a midwife, or using a birthing center? (a birthing center is a place ran only by midwives, where you also have a non-medicated birth)

These options are usually very affordable. You won't get an epidural, pitocin or other drugs, but you will be coached on how to deal with the pain in a natural way, and many believe a natural birth has a lot of benefits for both mother and baby.

The only risk is, if you do have complications and need to be transferred to a hospital (10% of cases with our birthing center), you will be stuck in the same situation of going to the ER and being billed later.

Here's the link to the birthing center we are using, so you have an idea of what it is like and what type of situations they can handle on site and what situations would require a transfer to a hospital (you would have to research centers in Florida)

Someone posted this link a while back, you could look into this too

Have you reached out to WIC for resources, and also help with nutrition and pregnancy care?

Good Luck and best wishes for a healthy baby :)
