VJ Loading Page is Really Slow

Yeah there was a funky thing I copied it if you want it,

However as fara s the members posts I think that you should be able to search at least the first few months of when member started this is where someone can get to know the older members by reading what they have gone through. IMHO :)

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

10/3/10 POE JFK all went well

I was having intermittent problems today about half an hour ago with pages taking a long time to resolve and post. I don't know if it is still happening.

edited to add: it happened again at 10:25 - it took over 4 minutes for a page to load.

At 7: 44 AM and now again at 10:25 AM...page takes forever to load.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The good news is that I can now "sync" your reports to the logs:

3:39 seconds the forums were probably not working right. I seriously may have to temporarily disable "find all posts by member" until I can resolve this. This specific item is what is causing all the slow downs. It seems like an easy fix but I dunno.

OMG I think I fixed it to work as I intended. I still limit it to 30 days back in time but it is WAY faster now. If this works I will increase the search range until it becomes slow again. Woo hoo! Fast server coming right up (I am sure I am jinxing it!).

I just had another bout of pages hanging up and taking forever to load. It started at 6:15 and ended around 6:22

I just signed on, but yesterday was hellish at times, for sure!

If indexing is causing the slowdown, there must be something amis with the sorting algorithm. Since the database is at least already 99% sorted at any one time, there is no reason to re-index the entire database each pass.

I am at a small loss. I know what is causing it but despite proper indexing the query is just slow. I will try more efforts to reduce the problem (short od disabling the feature of course). The hard part is that the cpu loading is way in the green. The issue is likely hard drive thrashing (we are on a raid 10 but maybe still an issue). The specific query is a "select count(*) as total where..." And the where is indexed well but just darn slow some time (erratic). The MYSQL slow query log shows it is primarily this exact query so I will spend a lot more time and focus on a way to reduce the issue. Sorry again. It is Sunday night for me so I will be at work on this Sunday (day) in the US. I am sitting on the MRT sowhen I get home I will have better access to fix/work on this (using my Blackberry right now).
