Baptist Preacher to Congregation: 'When I go to Bed at Night I Pray for Barack Obama to Die and Go to Hell'

I don't know what form of Christianity some practice here but I can tell this preacher this much, if Jesus was around in 2009, he certainly would not be some war (military) / corporation loving rodeo.

The bible is all about not judging others and basically helping one another out. It's a fundamental of Christianity. The each to their own attitude is nowhere to be seen in the bible period, well unless describing a roman of the time. Maybe some might quote let what is Caesar's be Caesar's; however, the government of 50BC ancient Rome is nothing like the government or world of 2009. If anything, the Roman government back then acted much in the same way many self-serving American corporations act today; that is, what's in it for me and our shareholders period.

While not all, some Christians in this country need to get a reality check. Maybe even come speak to some real traditional Christians (like Catholics or Orthodox) and learn what Christianity is actually about. Hint: Total opposite of someone who is self-serving, uncompassionate and a war monger. Then again, what is one to expect. You have televangelist earning hundreds of millions and claiming it's the 'will of Jesus' that they are rich. You must have missed the part where Jesus went to the temple and tore down the stands that were profiteering off God and God's name.

Jesus Jr.?

What I find interesting is MSNBC is doing exactly what they are accusing this guy of doing.

They combed the country to find one kooky guy whose church looks like about lake an "insurance office" and make him out to be the pied piper of the Far right.

The guy never said anything about guns bombs ... suggesting anyone do anything and Yet MSNBS gets some little, limp wristed bed wetter on the panel to paint this nightmare in your mind.

If I heard him correct, he is even talking like we should stop this guy from speaking?

WTH?

Then he drags up another kook, DAVID Koresh..... Does anyone remember how that "interdiction" went?

Hint: Neither Koresh or this guy are/ were bothering anyone.

Ask yourself this,... since some of you are... or know the fundamentalist type....

Q: How many Baptists ministers would one have to go through in the phone book before they found another like this?

This segment was meant to do exactly what it accused that guy of doing.

Think about it... this little guy is the most hostile person they could find to highlight their point (agenda)

That... in its self speaks volumes.

I'll tell you what, I don't want to hear SH_T about FOX news anymore.

"When I go to Bed at Night I Pray for Barack Obama to Die and Go to Hell"

Would think just praying that Barack Obama would die would accomplish his goals, whatever in the hell they are.

But also praying that he goes to hell is an overkill. Is there even such a place as hell, besides here? And good and evil spirits? In our society, you have to be good or face severe consequences. Going to hell afterwards would be double jeopardy. And all this is done by a God with infinite mercy?

I am Baptist (independent fundamental), and EVERY Sunday we pray for the president and the leaders of this country. Not pray against them. We pray that God gives them the wisdom to make the right decisions.

Great..another 3 or 4 reason why I will never set foot again in a baptist church....

I hear ya! The last church like this I was in believed that husbands had ultimate right over their wives...even some members going so far as to say "if you die at the hands of your husband then you have fulfilled your marriage vows". I don't think God intended for women to be beaten to death by their spouse. When I left my sorry azzwipe of a husband six and a half years ago, he spouted out to me of how I am sinful because I was not fulfilling my marriage vows...while he abused me in front of my daughter. He said that if he beat me to death then I would have been honouring my vows to him.

This was an independent fundamentalist church too, btw.

I promised myself never to set foot in one again.

EVER.

The problem in the states is you have a hell of a lot of rogue (independent) churches that do their own thing and are not accountable to anyone. Using the example you gave, that would never be tolerated in a Catholic or Orthodox church.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

True dat...and I would not want to hazard a guess as to how many women ARE abused like this because "the bible says....". The last time I read anything on the subject of marriage in the bible there was NOTHING in it about beating your wife into obedience and submission.
