Also, there is a test for "true" Christianity which Anderson and Phelps family fail miserably; they should be praying that people repent and convert, not that they should perish to hellfire.

To be a "true" Christian, one must pray that people convert? As in converting from another religion to Christianity?

The gist of what said was that Christians should be praying for souls, not condemning them. Leave that sh!t up to God.

From personal experience, Christians are some of the harshest "judges" on this planet. Independent Baptists are the worst. This dude, according to the Bible, will be judged as he has judged others. I'm mighty glad I'm not in his shoes!

So you weren't giving a thumbs emoticon for conversion just praying for souls. Only secular people can condemn others?

If your Filipina wife is like mine, she's praying enough for both of us sinners.

Yes. That preacher is similar to David Koresh - taking the Bible and fitting into his twisted logic.

Why do you call someone who directly violates the Bible a "fundamentalist"?

I consider myself to be a fundamentalist, and I love to give liberals a hard time, but I don't speak hate-speech. Jesus did not tell us to wish anyone Hell.

I like how worried people are that someone like me will strap bombs onto myself like a terrorist.

That preacher is radical fundamentalist. That doesn't mean he represents the views of all fundamentalists. Fundamentalism means that he adheres to the belief in a literal interpretation of Scripture. Their are Contextualists who don't adhere to that notion. That's the difference.

And I contend that he doesn't adhere to any literal form of the scriptures. So to me, he is not a fundamentalist. but a wacko.

Hence the word, 'radical'. That's the dangerous part of taking the Scriptures literally....any wacko can go through the Bible, twist it to their logic but then claim it as an edict from God.

The only reason you'd have to take offence at what I said is if you adhere to an archaic definition of the word Fundamentalist.

But since you don't like that word - I'll swap it with another:

Extremist

Why are there so many loonies in this country? Seriously.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Ask yourself that the question, the answer is on the tip of your tongue.

I don't know what form of Christianity some practice here but I can tell this preacher this much, if Jesus was around in 2009, he certainly would not be some war (military) / corporation loving rodeo.

The bible is all about not judging others and basically helping one another out. It's a fundamental of Christianity. The each to their own attitude is nowhere to be seen in the bible period, well unless describing a roman of the time. Maybe some might quote let what is Caesar's be Caesar's; however, the government of 50BC ancient Rome is nothing like the government or world of 2009. If anything, the Roman government back then acted much in the same way many self-serving American corporations act today; that is, what's in it for me and our shareholders period.

While not all, some Christians in this country need to get a reality check. Maybe even come speak to some real traditional Christians (like Catholics or Orthodox) and learn what Christianity is actually about. Hint: Total opposite of someone who is self-serving, uncompassionate and a war monger. Then again, what is one to expect. You have televangelist earning hundreds of millions and claiming it's the 'will of Jesus' that they are rich. You must have missed the part where Jesus went to the temple and tore down the stands that were profiteering off God and God's name.
