Hi all

I have a son and a stepson who both need to have a car insurance.

We don't want them on our insurance since it seems very expensive and we don't want them to drag us down with accidents.

Is there any ideas of what car insurance we should let them have if we are letting them have each their own insurance?

Any good suggestions is appreciated.

Well I might have to tell that the reason our insurance is more expensive is because one of our 2 cars is a brand new one. Under no circumstances they will drive this new car, but only the old car.

So just trying to find a better deal

My Daughter 19 who lives with my mom in florida is on my mom's policy we added a car I go for her 2005 cobalt and it increased my mom's payments like 300 a month. Yes it is very expensve to have tennagers on any policy. Whether youra or there own.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Son is a much larger problem than a daughter, kept my step daughter on my plan, but purchased a car for her, good runner, but didn't want to pay for collision nor comprehensive on it. Did carry the full coverage on it, if they are under 18, least in Wisconsin, you are still responsible for any damages they may cause and can be in excess of their policy coverage, especially if you own a home and have a couple of bucks in the bank.

Daughter had all of that drivers' safety courses, was on the high honor roll so her liability was only twice as what I had to pay. It went down a little each year, she's 20 years old now, how time passes. So her rates are approaching what I have to pay. I am still traffic ticket and accident free, main key is not getting caught, LOL.

I think it is more expensive for them to get their own than to add them to yours. I know if there were any way to do it cheaper, my father would have found it, and he always had us (all 8) on his insurance. I do know that it was cheaper if we had taken driver's ed, defensive driving, and if we were on the honor roll. (Apparantly better students have fewer accidents.) While he maintained the insurance for us if we didn't make the honor roll, we weren't allowed to drive until the next marking period when we made the honor roll.
