Danno - when you reach a point in your life to qualify for Medicare and Social Security benefits, will you refuse to accept those benefits or will you take them?

Stephen, this lame attempt at connecting the two is.. well lame.

Just because I use the U.S. Post Office does not mean I welcome more govt. in my life.

By the way..

Why does the Govt refuse to let anyone else deliver something to your mail box?

are the protecting my interests... or theirs?

There's nothing lame about it. Are you going to accept Medicare and Social Security or not?

I mean hey - you'll take your government controlled handout, right?

It's a mystery to me how anything Ann Coulter has to say about health care is mistaken for rational discourse on the subject. Only in Danno-world.

Free Spirit, there is a reason she is best selling author, and highly sought after "talking head" and you are just a... "head".

:bonk:

Yeah right.

It's because Coulter's blonde and has legs up to here.

And because she acts like a ###### on television and you imagine her mud-wrestling.

In a few short years, she'll be over the hill and off the screen.

She mentions Sex Change operations twice - as if it were anything but a procedure carried on a very tiny percentage of people....

and once, lumps it with early childhood development.... OT,S/T or P/T for a disabled child shouldnt be in the same group as a sex change op.

btw, what private insurance company pays for a sex change?! I really doubt that their funds paying for sex changes prohibit them from covering mr gallstone sheesh

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

The government is financing sex-change operations? I'd better get in line for my #######.

The interwebz are full of horny men who will let you borrow theirs for free! No public option needed. Just an ad on Craigs.

You don't suppose they'd mind a detachment? (Wasn't that a song in the early 90s? Detachable #######?)

Great thanks for the auditory memory there.

She needs to stick to law rather than commenting on business.

The notion that the free-market alone prevents monopolies or opens up competition is wrong. Governments can either promote competition or they can restrict it. This is why I have 30+ broadband internet providers in Melbourne, AUS while only one (concast) here. The government is there to set the rules of the game. The government must promote competition. Otherwise every industry in America will end up with a single walmart equivalent calling the shots. Even though Ann wouldn't shop at a walmart if her anorexic life depended on it, she supports walmart 100%.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I could not read the whole article.

I found the first little lie in the article and lost patience right there:

LIBERAL LIES ABOUT NATIONAL HEALTH CARE: FIRST IN A SERIES

by Ann Coulter

August 19, 2009

Tiny little France and Germany have more competition among health insurers than the U.S. does right now. Amazingly, both of these socialist countries have less state regulation of health insurance than we do...

In France, health insurance is government regulated. Ie there is ONE insurer and no competition. The competing insurance companies only compete to cover 20-30% of cost of some medical services which are not covered by the government insurance at 100%, but rather at 70-80%.

As medical services are cheap in France (22 euro for a visit to general practitioner), the copays and uncovered portions are relatively small and people do not have to have supplementary insurance, although many choose to buy it.

Hence - competition among insurance companies is much more fierce, because their product is not really needed, but may become beneficial if the price is cheap. Hence - no need for regulation :)

Also, as medical services are cheap, insurance companies do not charge high premiums.

I definitely believe you. If it were not for my employer based health insurance I would have none. If anyone...with half a brain that is...can understand anything she says then go for it. I'd like to know too.

Stephen, I like everyone else plan to milk as much cash out of the system as I can.

Do you think this is a sound mentality we have created ?

Why would you 'milking it' since you have paid into it?

Why would members of a single-payer insurance system be 'milking it' if they were to pay into it?

Interesting. So you despise government programs like Social Security and Medicare, but you'll participate when the opportunity arises. It'd be interested to see whether your attitude changes, if for some reason you life depends on those two programs. Millions of elderly in this country would die without Social Security and Medicare. They were landmark programs that have been tremendously successful, yet inconvenient for the extremists on the Right who rant on about the Fed Gov't inability to do anything right. Because, if they openly admitted that those two programs actually are successful, they would have to completely rethink their position about the Fed Gov't.

Extremist Right view - Government can't do anything right.

Moderate view - Government can and does some things right.

Extremist Left view - the Government is the answer to everything.

As much as the extremists on the Right want to paint those on the Left who are pushing for health care reform as extremists on the Left, you see where their position is....right in the middle. And that's where most Americans are ideologically. The happy medium.

I don't know of any.... not that I would know but it should be noted these types of people are due civil rights protection as pledged by Obama on Whitehouse.gov (under civil rights I believe).

... And you doubt these necessary procedures will be covered ... not in the first step mind you but we all know how this words.... and Like Pike pointed out, their numbers are probably less than 50,000 so how much could it cost?
