hello readers of VJ.

i am applying for k1 visa, and have already got NOA2.

while filing out I-134, i notced i am on the border line for poverty line so my dad will be co sponserer.

now my question is this.

do both my parents need to fill out I-134 seperately as they file tax return together? coz only one person can sign on the form.

and is there anything else in addition i need to do if we are co-sponsering my fiancee?

thanks for your time and help in advance.

Only one can be the co-sponsor. You need copies of their 2008 tax returns and any documentation to substantiate the income...w-2's or 1099's. Also copy of birth certificate / passport biographical page to show citizenship.

Also be aware that not all consulates accept co-sponsors for the K-1. Check with yours to be sure.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

Generally the rules for the I 864 are followed and that requires proof of citizenship OR LPR status.

Only one person's income counts toward the qulaification, so only one parent needs to fill out the I-134 in addition to your I-134. It doesn't matter how many you submit, some ONE person has to meet the qulaifications. They do not combine incomes. Submit the joint tax returns and the w-2 from the selected co-sponsor. That person should state their income as their OWN income, not the combined income on the joint tax return.

Verify that your consulate will accept co-sponsors.
