Hey guys...sorry i have been a lurker around her the past couple of weeks, anyway I am debating about moving to saudi arabia and filing DCF. Because honestly I dont think I can wait it out...its like apart of me is missing. I know that a few people have adviced me to just start filing but I know that this will be a long process for us. The reason why it will take longer is because he was asked to leave the US voluntarily..thus he has voluntary departure on his record. Seriously what should I do here? Iam trying to weigh the pros and cons of living aboard and filing DCF, any advice would be great.

This might be a silly question but don't you have to live in the country your spouse is from to file DCF? Your profile says Lebanon yeah? Where did KSA come in at? Sorry if I'm missing something.

Also, have you ever been to KSA before? Even I wouldn't consider living there and from what I have heard from other women, it's not the easiest place to live.

We all feel like part of us is missing when we are apart from our husbands and fiancees, and some of us wait years.

It is normal to feel like that and yet we all manage to get through it.

If you moved, would you be able to afford to move back to the US after staying out of country for so long? And what about proof of your ability to support him if you're not working (since you'd be living out of the country?).

Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide.

If Saudi has DCF, and you can go there without undue hardship, and can figure out how to file the financial support documents once you file DCF, I'd recommend going. Not only can you be together through the stressful visa process, but you will also learn more about his culture and be able to appreciate the difficulties he may have adjusting to the USA once you move back.

Okay he is working in KSA but does that mean you can file DCF from there? I thought you had to live in the country your spouse was from to file for DCF??

Also, at least for Egypt, you have to show residency for a certain length of time before filing...

it could be a long time you'd be living there.

You can file DCF after being a resident for 6 months

:) I see my name mentioned lol i come in late

Ive talked with her about living in KSA, but i cant really advise on the embassy because we arent filing a visa. I did have a friend that was living here. Her husband is from egypt and they filed dcf here and i believe he got his visa pretty quickly---although he didnt have a V-D on his record as the OP's husband does.

If her husband is able to get her residency here then i think her coming here and filing dcf is the best idea because her husband can make some money here---and she stresses they dont want to be apart---but if he were to go back to lebanon he wont make nearly the same amount---if even he could find work.

I'm just curious if she will be able to handle the culture there in KSA. I'm sure it's much different than Lebanon.

Wasn't there some big flap about the wedding and all the cultural stuff?

Actually, you've lived in both places Jess, how do they compare?

It was difficult adjusting to life in lebanon, I think i was stressing because we had less than a week to fully plan out the logistics of the wedding. Also we went through alot of ####### from immigration just trying to get married in Lebanon. I think its hard adjusting in any country...my husband is still trying to adjust to life in KSA and its extremely challenging being a single man there.
