Certified or Exemplified marriage certificate?

My husband and I just got married August 15th so I'll be sending in a request to get some copies of our marriage certificate. I got this pamphlet guide about what type to get (either plain, certified or exemplified) when we went in to get the marriage license. From what I've read on the forums most people only sent in a photocopy of a certified copy, but this pamphlet says certified copies are used for in-state purposes and exemplified copies are used for international reasons, such as immigration. The exemplified is more expensive but I'll get it if that is what's needed. Does anyone know if it matters?

We got our license in PA if that helps at all

I sent copies of the certified copy, since the instructions say to send copies and then bring the original to the interview if requested. But I have just sent off my application and of course don't know yet if I will receive an RFE for it or not.

Good luck!

The certified is good enough. Send a xerox of it with your application and take the original with you to the interview. Good luck!!!

I concur with furiousng. Don't pay more if you can get it done through less. Simply send in a copy of the Marriage certificate that you receive and take the original to the interview when it arrives. Thats what we did.

Good Luck
