i agree sister mags...only a nOOb would venture into OT and not expect their short hairs to get curled

OT is what it is. It's always been that way; it just varies whom the perpetrators are. I find what happens is this:

1) Member posts in OT for the first time - normally once their visa has been approved and they've ventured out of the immigration areas.

2) That person is then "shocked" by some posts in there (or a group of posters).

3) Person complains in Site Discussions

4) 6 months later same member is a regular in OT and takes part in the very same things they found so offensive before.

5) Same member is embarrassed by Site Discussions thread they started.

Happens over and over and over again. OT has NOT changed since I joined in 2006 - same sh!t, different day. There's some good stuff in there; some rubbish stuff; some great members; some not so great members.

I don't get my knickers in a twist about it.

why do you worry about a few people. I have pretty much the same opinion of them as yourself. Just ignore them they really are quite inconsequential to VJ as a whole.

Most of the sections for the countries in which we live have a forum for general discussions which is where you will find the more intelligent conversations taking place.

But if you don't "belong" to that country's forum, the hostility levels for posting there can be blistering, not to mention, unwelcoming.
