Awww Tay, OT isn't that bad....Though I must say that there is a reason that politics and religion are verboten subjects in "polite" conversation for a reason. I would agree that it would be nice if we could have a sensible conversation without all the "bleeding heart librul" and "stupid **" but you're just not going to get that on the intarwebs, it always escalates to that in the end.

I think the difficulty is that most people are there for entertainment, and the easiest way to get there is through short, zippy retorts instead of long, thought out responses. I have seen somewhat better conversations when the subject is neither political nor religious, but it's hard to stir up much interest if ya aren't "stirring the pot"

Can't believe I let an opportunity pass to reply to the original poster with thinly veiled yet clever insults to the entire OT community (except Len who gets a pass because she is sweet and has a creamy nougaty center, true fact). But hell, it's page 5 now, I lost the chance. Anyway, to the OP, if you just pretend that Off-Topic and most of the people who post there don't exist, life is golden and unicorny.

I beg to differ trail. I spend a lot of my time on OT; mostly on the Say Anything thread and the Commies for Christ one; as well as the lolcats. It is a fun place; and i have made truly close friendships there. There are good people there as much as there are bad ones elsewhere.

You can hang in OT and not take part into the BS discussions, but swap anecdotes, daily stuff, luvz and all that jazz. We have followed many pregnancies, births, courtships, marriages, interviews, denials, heartbreak, etc. The OT gang is a bunch of really crazy and diverse people, and that is what makes it fun. We disagree, b1tch at each other, and then talk on other topics as if nothing had happened, and we help each other. A world where everyone thinks the same would not be a place I would like to be part of.

The way you wrote it, it would seem everyone in OT is a piece of ####### that deserves to be banned for good. That is quite uncool, really.

If the VJ audience were children, I could see putting up a warning. But we're all adults, and most of us can figure out pretty quickly if OT is going to offend our delicate flower-like sensibilities.
