Well, the truth of the matter is... most of the country-specific forums alienate anyone that happens in to their domain as well - even my own country! A small group of people chit-chatting about non-immigration related topics that don't invite anyone else to participate unless you are one of the chosen few...

So, don't chastise OT for being that way when that is from whence you all came...

I don't see people being alienated in the Canada forum? Do I just not see that? I think everyone is included in discussions if they chose to jump in.

I suspect everyone is welcome there until they say they hate timbits...

We can even overlook that - but people must be paid.

You know I was just thinking about this discussion and what OT has become - which is a pretty - well a not-so-nice place to be unless you are thick skinned and are able to read hugely unbalanced opinions (ie: #######) as well as the good ones.

One thing no one seems to address is the waste of time it is for the moderators. They have to go in and read a bunch of garbage each and every day. What a tremendous waste of time and all because some adults cannot moderate themselves. I don't think that is something to be particularly proud of.

I beg to differ trail. I spend a lot of my time on OT; mostly on the Say Anything thread and the Commies for Christ one; as well as the lolcats. It is a fun place; and i have made truly close friendships there. There are good people there as much as there are bad ones elsewhere.

You can hang in OT and not take part into the BS discussions, but swap anecdotes, daily stuff, luvz and all that jazz. We have followed many pregnancies, births, courtships, marriages, interviews, denials, heartbreak, etc. The OT gang is a bunch of really crazy and diverse people, and that is what makes it fun. We disagree, b1tch at each other, and then talk on other topics as if nothing had happened, and we help each other. A world where everyone thinks the same would not be a place I would like to be part of.

The way you wrote it, it would seem everyone in OT is a piece of ####### that deserves to be banned for good. That is quite uncool, really.

:(

I've highlighted where Trailmix has specifically stated that not everything written in OT is hurtful or unbalanced.

I conncur with sister Len, I post in upper forums but do spend most of my time on OT also in the C4C thread. However when a member goes through say bringing the kids of there SO after the SO I am quick to pass my experince with them. I do not think because we hang in OT we are any differnt than anyone else PERIOD. There are bad apples, but hey that is life as even in the real world we have these.....

How much time do the MODS actually spend in OT? Or for that matter the MODS you mean Kathryn adn Krkit who are the only ones around most of the day while we play in OT? Like stated if you are not thick skinned OT is not for you. The person who started this thread has been a member since 07 and knows this. I rarely comment on anything political beccause I know my views are warped but hey they are mine.

There is no such thing as a bad person in OT, only the topics are bad.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Aw... I don't think OT is that bad -- I have seen WAY worse. Yeah, some things get out of hand, people make silly mistakes

as I did once with the spoiler bar!!

but all in all, I've met some seriously fun people who take levity to a whole new level -- the upper levels are serious and I keep my posts there usually as information based as I can.

In OT, it's playtime and most things are levitious, slightly rabble-rousing but at most times? Tongue in cheek and meant to be entertaining. Bad apples are everywhere just more highlighted in OT land...

Just my ever humble opinion and I do try not to be a dumb*ss about stuff but sarcasm and such is hard to corral on the rare occasion.

I toast my internet OT/other forum friends...

yeah, a lot - and a significant amount of the time is also spent dealing with off topic behaviour that has escaped into the upper forums, as well as the 'cyber fist fights' that break out in OT between individuals who aren't able to accept that others are entitled to their own opinions.

As krikit pointed out - I did say there was good as well as bad (and I meant that).

I'm very cool B)

As well as between those who have different opinions, understand that and accept that, and don't necessarily want or need to be "protected" from those who hold the different opinions.
