My American Fiancee is going to mail off our petition this weekend. This whole year we have been flying to see each other every 5 weeks or so (myself to new york, my fiancee to london) Ive heard alot of conflicting reports wether we can remain to do so while the petition is processed. The US embassy in london says it is ok as long as i have plenty of evidence i will return at the end of my trip (signed letters from my place of work, financial ties etc) but ive heard plenty of rumors they will not let you see each other untill i receive my K-1 visa to enter the country which could take a year.

Advice please??

Im due to fly out to new york in 3 weeks, shall we file after my trip or file now and compile evidence proving my return?

This gets asked pretty frequently - lots of rumors out there (most are not exactly true).

Check HERE for the detailed answer.

thankyou so much for the link.

I have had 3 j-1 visas completed where i have returned to England on time. i have probably made 13 total return trips to new york without once overstaying or getting in to trouble with the US authorities. Does border control see my travel movements on there screen? with many completed journey's plus eveidence of ties to England, will that help my case?

i dont know what i would do if i was refused entry and my girlfriend was in the next room at arrivals waiting for me!!

I'm sure if you have your ducks in a row and show the evidence that your not going to stay in the USA i think you should be fine. Very common question but if your smart about it, i think you'll be fine, not all of us can afford to do this so feel very lucky that you have this opportunity. Good luck..keep posting and reading....and listen to the elder members, they really know what they're talking about!

Oh i feel very lucky,I work very hard so and spend little on myself so all available money goes travelling and all the the fees we are about to inccur. It is slightly disheartening to get engaged after 3 years together only to find out it could be another year before we start our life together!

hey ho, i just pray for a smooth application, because ive had 3 Working visas in america plus i already have social security number and valid new york state driving liscence etc that will help my case. theres only one way to find out.....
