Packet 3 Questions

We never received our packet 3 from the American Embassy in Cairo. They claim they sent it DHL on Aug. 12th. Instead of waiting, we are trying to just download the forms from the internet and send them in.

Could someone tell us if we need to do the medical exam now and send it in with the other forms? I had read somewhere that you have to take your interview letter in to the Dr. office with you and you take the Dr. packet to the interview. Which is right?

Will the Dr. know what is required for the visa medical exam or is there a list in packet 3 that we will need?

You can only schedule your medical examination with your appointment letter. If you go on the State Dept website, they will give you a list of Doctors/Hospitals that offers that type of medical examination in your region. Good luck getting Packet 3.

You don't need the appointment letter to get your medical exam done. But you do need the list of approved doctors in Egypt, so that you can make an appointment with them. I'm sure someone around here has a list somewhere. There is a VJ'er (whose husband is interviewing this morning!) who was in the same situation -- never received packet 3. Turned out they had the address wrong and it was eventually re-delivered. But they submitted the forms from online anyway, not the ones that were sent in Packet 3. You can print them all off online (most of the ones they send you are outdated, anyway.)

You do send the medical exam report in with your Packet 3 forms. The doctor will know what you need to have done for your situation. You need to take passport-style photos to the doctor's office with you, they attach them to the medical report in some way.

actually here in Egypt they wont give you an appointment with out the letter..There are only two places to do it in cairo..The Anglo Americian hospital in Zamelek and Sharook hospital in mohendseen..You can call and ask but they wouldnt let me untill I had the letter. can you track the package with dhl?

My fiance called DHL and they have no record of the package. I emailed the embassy and got a short email back saying they sent the package August 12th. When I called the embassy today, they were very rude and said I could only contact them by email or mail and wouldn't help me.

We had to send the physical back with packet three..I would send them an email and tell them you need them to locate where they sent packet 3 too..

My husband did not take his letter with him to the medical exam here in Cairo, they never asked for it at all. He just took his passport and the passport photos. Same story for a friend who just went through this in Alex a couple weeks ago.

Send an email to the embassy, verify the address, tell them you haven't received the package, ask for the tracking number.

You shouldn't need the interview letter to get the physical. You do need to send the medical exam packet with the packet 3 stuff back to the embassy, you don't take it with you to the interview. But when they mail you your interview letter (after they receive your packet 3 stuff back) you WILL need to be able to receive that letter, because you have to take it with you to the interview in order to get in the door, so you need to figure out what the deal is with your address with DHL.

We never received packet 3 either so I emailed them and they emailed it to us. We were told the same thing about no medical appointment without the letter but we took our email from the embassy and copies of our NVC letter that our case was at the Embassy and just to be sure we took our NOA2's and he got the appointment without this letter which we never saw.

Here is what we were emailed from the Embassy for packet 3.

1. Photocopy of passport (the original to be submitted on the appointment date)

2. Photocopy of birth certificate

3. Police certificate from every country where the applicant lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16 (not all are obtainable or required; call us at 02-797-2201 for further information)

4. Photocopy of military certificate (for men between 18 and 50 years of age)

5. An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) signed by the Petitioner and notarized before either a notary public in the U.S. or a consular officer at the embassy (this can be done on the day of your appointment).

6. Petitioner’s most recent year of federal income taxes (form 1040 only). Please also bring the most recent W2 form and a job letter indicating current salary and length of employment

MEDICAL EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

All immigrant visa/refugee applicants must undergo a medical examination prior to receiving a visa. All applicants over the age of fifteen must undergo a blood test for HIV. Applicants over the age of 15 require a blood test for venereal disease and a chest X-ray. Other tests may be required in certain cases. The examination process should be started at least one week before the interview date, as it can take some time to obtain test results. Physicians will refer applicants to a syphilis and HIV testing laboratory.

Fees:

The physical exam costs L.E. 80. The fee for applicants under 15 years of age will not be more than L.E. 70.

The blood test for venereal disease is L.E. 40.

The HIV test is approximately L.E. 75.

The Chest X-ray is L.E. 65.

All fees are the responsibility of the applicant.

TO THE PANEL PHYSICIANS AND LABORATORIES:

All reports and test results should be given to the applicant in a sealed envelope to present to the Consular Section. Applicants’ identities should be verified before examination and testing, and the passport number noted on all reports.

TO THE APPLICANT:

At the appointment with the panel physician, each applicant should present the following to the panel physician:

1) His/her passport 2) 3 photos that will be attached to the report.

3) Copies of any prior medical records 4) Any prior chest X-rays

5) Immunization records. If you do not have any proof of any record of immunization, vaccines will be given to you during the medical examination and the fee for the vaccines will be at the cost of the applicant.

And yes send the paperwork via DHL to this address at the Embassy: Egypt Embassy Info At DHL they will ask you if you want to mark the envelope for return and you say yes and they check the box and put the address you want the envelope returned to, so everything is paid up front and the Embassy uses that same envelope marked for return and sends the interview letter to you in about a week.

And yes send the paperwork via DHL to this address at the Embassy: Egypt Embassy Info At DHL they will ask you if you want to mark the envelope for return and you say yes and they check the box and put the address you want the envelope returned to, so everything is paid up front and the Embassy uses that same envelope marked for return and sends the interview letter to you in about a week.

I'm the Packet 3 keeper... Send me your email and I'll send you a complete copy of everything he got in Packet #3.

He never got his interview letter... he didn't need it to get his physical in Alex... there's only one doc in Alex that does them...

The info in Packet #3 was old and moldy... totally out of date... so get the info from the Consulate's website as well and get updated versions of the forms...

But at least I can send you what he would have gotten.. and it's in arabic so that's nice... he scanned the whole thing and sent it to me so I can now forward it to you...
