Hi V friends,

i'm just wondering have anybody felt so stressed out adapting to life in America? I stressed out soo much because of first AOS and my deadline. and that i'm not allowed to work until i get my EAD. plus my drivers license wasn't valid in the states. all i've been doing is cooking for my husband, cleaning the house. watching even every bullshit on T.V.

And now i can't be enrolled into the college because they don't want to accept my status AOS applicant.

Have you ever had this feeling before and can you advise me please how to ovrcome this hard and boring very boring days until i get my EAD and AP?

thanks a lot

Urgh bummer. A friend of mine not too long ago was in the same situation. For some time she was dangling around until she found a local ADLC (Adult Learning Center) that has ESL program (English as Second Language). She ended up signing up for that 3x a week. Then she keeps signing up for any interesting courses in that center. After that she joined a gym where I met her. We took kickboxing classes together and of course I became her designated driver if we want to go to a local Starbucks to chill. I hope there is some sort of community initiatives in your area where you can kill time and enjoy yourself as well. You have to force yourself to do that or else you will end up stressing your spouse too.

Wish you luck and happiness.

I was on the same shoe during my first few months in the states. Cleaning and cooking and Tv was my everyday routine until I finally able to enroll on-line and made new friends to talk on the phone and sometimes who picked me up to go somewhere. You're not alone girl!

  • Go to the Library
  • Volunteer
  • Study for the DL tests
  • Take a class (find a community college or similar that will enroll you)
  • Surf on VJ (update your timeline)
  • Try to occupy your time/get a hobby
  • Go swimming (was/is Karin's favorite)

It can be mundane - hopefully the time passes quickly for you - it does usually when you're not waiting.. (F)

Bonjour Mimi, I am in the same situation. I did get my work permit last month but still am waiting to get hired. Just remember, this is not forever. It's just a few months and then life will get busy again. My husband encouraged me to join his gym, so when I get bored I give myself a 2 hour work out. I also studied for driver's licence test which I can't take anyways till I get the green card. I made our wedding book on blurb. com. Also, I decorated the home with curtains and stuff.

But mostly I am in the same boat - cooking, cleaning, vj website :), tv etc.

Last week I had a teaching interview, it felt amazing, so I will work soon. On the other hand, just remember this is temporary.

I am driving with my canadian driving licence, I was lucky to bring my car over, so that's been a lifesaver.

hang in there (F)

The Lord is my strength and my shield,

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.

I am.....

I cook, clean and watch every bs on tv... oh and put up with the bull in my in-laws, they can be well not able to get along good, and the worse thing is taht I cant do anything about it, we have dogs, fish and now a rabbit to take care of but that only takes 60-90 min of my day... The thing about my husband is he does not want me alone, like alone at the gym because someone could pick up on me, or like alone at the pier(fishing) cause someone might try to pick up on me, cant run with my dogs cause he does not trust me (well not necessarily trust me, but meaning the men) my dogs are really friendly and he does not want them to steal them from me. I also play the PS3 but then that only takes like 30 before I am over it. IDK my husband is really weird in certain things but I still love him and I am glad he is the way he is....

ok, my "holiday" is over, I got hired and start working on Thursday. I'll be panting for those days off again :).... So no more boring days. It does come to an end before you know it.

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.
