I just heard that NVC has my case and it is in administrative processing before they send to consulates office. Can I make an interview date even though the applications is in this process??? I was hoping to make the interview now since I know it will take a long time to set the date.

Anyone with Cuban fiance have administrative processing???

HELP!! thanks

No - you cannot make an interview date till NVC releases your file.

(the embassy will do nothing for you without your case number, which NVC assigns.)

(moved from K-1 process to NVC)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

They gave me a case number......???

Does not matter if you have case number or not. As long as your in AP at NVC your stuck there till AP is completed, then your petition will be sent to the embassy.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Are you stuck in AP too? I'm really bummed. could this take forever?

Documented cases have taken no more than about 50 days. Just keep calling the NVC - at least once a week.

Short answer: No. Your fiance needs to first pick up the packet from the US Interest Section, and obtain a passport, and then you can call to schedule appointment. You'll need info like the HAV.... case number, fiance's passport number, and other basic contact info to schedule.

Long answer: Our case was at NVC for not long- maybe 2 weeks- this past month. I know when they sent via DHL to the US Interest Section, but it took about 2-3 weeks for the Interest Section to acknowledge they had it. My fiance has been calling them every week to check in. This week they gave him an appointment date - Sept 25th- to pick up the packet. The lady on the phone said he should go ahead and schedule an appointment since the wait time is 3 months (all official literature/instructions say to wait until all documentation is ready after receiving packet). So I got excited thinking we could schedule the interview now, but when I called the insane system that charges $11 for 8 minutes of talk time, they wouldn't allow me to schedule the appointment without his Consular case number, which starts with HAV..... The USCIS case number is not acceptable.

My question to anyone reading this with CUBAN fiance is, is there another way to schedule the appointment (considering they verbally instructed us to do so) without buying into their monopoly phone system. I dislike it on principle.

good luck!
