How can we fly back together?

My Fiancee is ready for her medical and interview. I will be with her at the Embassy .

My question is , if I get a roundtrip ticket for me , how can I be sure she can get a ticket on same flight back so we can sit next to each other?

Thanks for any advise you can give.

Hello Larry!

I don't have an answer to your question but I know Angelina personally. She told me last Friday that you would be coming over for her interview. I didn't make it to the dinner invitation when you were here in Cebu in February. We had our teachers' out-of-town escapade back then.

Congratulations to you both and maybe I will be able to meet you during Ate Anj's despedida.

God bless us all.

If you purchase the tickets together you will be able to be on the same flight. You will have to actually call the airlines so that they can set it up that way.

i would suggest to buy a one way ticket for you and buy for the two of you in PI together to make sure you'll have a seat right next to each other unless you can reschedule it later if needed without having no problem.

If you will buy your tickets thru a travel agency here in the states they will sit it up for you. That's exactly what I did last month. No problems. Good luck.

Be sure to wait until you have the visa in hand to buy the ticket or be prepared to pay fines for changing the flight date.

I planned to buy a one way ticket there then I planned to buy us both one way return tickets back to the states. I also purchased the flight insurance so i dont get hit so big if the consul doesnt want to issue the visa to us. This way I can show them our itenerary which might make them more inclined to issue the visa to us in the next few days after the interview.

unfortunately the embassy warns against buying airline tickets before visas are approved, they don't care about the hassle you will have to get a refund or fees you have to pay for rescheduling...the safest way to do it is schedule your flight back several weeks (say 3) after the interview, after all you will still have to deal with waiting for the delivery of visa after your fiancee is approved (it is very common that instead of the usual 3 days, some deliveries take weeks, like mine did)

hope this doesn't happen to you though. good luck and god bless!

I'll be at my hubby's interview (hopefully Jan or Feb!), but then I'll fly back home, then go back in a month to bring him home! Just makes it easier, plus he has to give notice at his job. And it give me an additional vacation-ha!

One-way tickets are SO expensive!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Just book the same flight and ask the airline for seats together!!

In my experience, seats are extremely easy to change, so long as you have tickets on the same flight. Check in early and just ask to be seated together.

As with any other planning, do the best you can - and be sure that you fully understand any consequences of changes out of your control and are prepared to eat the cost. If you are a planner and responsible enough to fully understand the terms of your ticket, it may be a good deal (to the tune of 50% off) and acceptable risk for you to buy tickets ahead of time. This requires as much attention to detail as the rest of the process, so understand (and mitigate) the risks, and undertake them whichever you choose. If you can't be bothered to read fine print, or suck it up and take the consequences if things go wrong, then do as the rest have suggested and just wait and pay full price

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

I fly to the US with British Airways and you get to do 'online check-in' 24 hours before your flight and select whatever seat you like. Best to be ready hitting the refresh button at exactly 24 hours before though to ensure the seat you want. You'd be OK getting seats together easily enough, but because I'm 6"2 I notice that all the seats at the front with leg room go FAST!!!! lol
