In the early 2000s upto 2004, the CIA was sufferred from old technology. They were using DOS based system while the FBIs and the city police were dealing with Windows machine.

As much as I like to agree with Hal9000, the CIA needs to replace their ways to manage new recruits and help bring all their database, and computer systems to be the level of standard needed. Their field agents (the experienced ones are nearing their 60s of age). The new commers who barely have any experience gathering (the new recruits who are to be replacing the 30 years veteran field agents don't have the same skill set from their predeccer who dealt with the cold war).

Since the end of the cold war, there were very little need to do intelligence gathering. Right now, as their management team is decreasing morale, the CIA will continue to waste alot of money with little results. It's sad.

Old computers, no new field agents for 30 years with experience and no need for intelligence gathering post-Cold War. Have a hard time believing any of that.

Here ya go, Bill. More proof of your Conspiracy Theory of the White House releasing news to the media to boost their poll numbers...

(I hope you're wearing your tin foil hat for this one)

Both the White House Office of Management and Budget and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted the budget deficit this year would swell to nearly $1.6 trillion, a record, and far above the then-record 2008 budget deficit of $455 billion.

But while figures released by the White House foresee a cumulative $9 trillion deficit from 2010-2019, $2 trillion more than the administration estimated in May, congressional budget analysts put the 10-year figure at a lower $7.14 trillion.

Obama's new motto should be "What, me worry?"

I'm sure he's plenty worried. Being put in a difficult spot - either take the chance and let the country fall into a deep Depression...or try to stimulate the economy with government spending. While his critics wait in the shadows, snarling and ready to eat him alive at the first opportunity, he's been saying all along that it may take 2 years for us to really be into a recovery. Can the critics wait that long before they can make any legitimate argument against regarding his chosen strategy?

 Maybe they didn't tell the CBO about the extra 2 trillion they plan on spending, yet.

Oooooooo...Good one! ...and of course, just watch how this calculating manipulation of the press will cause Obama's numbers to soar. What will their criminal minds think of next? (I'll bet you can probably tell already)

Let me speculate about how this "investigation" just might blow up in Obamas face... not Holders.

It's been so many years since we have had a attack by radical terrorist that one could say were are Due.

Obama better hope that when this attack comes there is not bloody footage to be endlessly looped on the news cycle... along side the joyous reaction of our enemies.

When this happens, the big question will be: WHY The obama administration is spending (wasting) time investigating those that kept us safe.... (even if by occasional, brutal means) when we have enemies ploting our harm.

To allow this investigation of our own guys to proceed, Obama is basically betting *all is safe* on the terrorist front.

Not a bet I would make at any time in the distant future.

Anyone care to guess what Cheneys sound bits will contain?

Let me re-emphasize. After the cold war, there was little need to fund the CIA. Fields agents began working at the desk. George Tenet took over and kind of turned everything around in early 2000.

Prior to 2000, there weren't college recuitment fairs for the CIA. The reason why the CIA did the recruitment fair was that there weren't alot of people or public awarance the necessity of intellligence gathering.

George Tenent, "At the Center of the Storm" is a timeline autobiography of his place as the Director of the CIA. It's a recommended reading.

He had to bring those agents who retired back to work as well.
