I doubt they'll put a 75 year old in prison for this, though it does seem to be stretching the definition of self-defence somewhat to go after someone after they have left and you are no longer in danger. Looks exactly like revenge.

they didn't find the gun near the body. doesn't mean that one of the group didn't point it at the elderly person ... and well ... the elderly persons aim was a little off. or one of the other kids took the gun.
